I should have poked him about WHEN it was due, but I was too busy trying to be charming, in the hopes of leaving a positive impression. lol

Yes, I had my new car there as some bait. And parked right next to me was this.

2500 is large number, much bigger than what I have heard previously. I had heard 1 year production run only and a very limited plaqued car. Maybe my info is wrong.

Porsche only made 410 regular Spyders for USA for model year 2020, and 648 for model year 2021. The US market production is around 1/3 the total global production for most Porsche sports cars. If they were really going to make 1000 Spyder RS for USA, that would mean making roughly twice as many per year than the regular Spyder, or doing a two year run with roughly the same production volume as the regular Spyder.

For it to be a rare car that’s harder to get than a regular Spyder, a one year production run of 1000 worldwide including 350 for USA would be a more plausible number. If they want to be extra rare, maybe 718 worldwide, with 250 for USA.

Why do you assume the Covid / global supply chain / beginning of Ukrainian war constrained production numbers will continue?

Regarding the number made, first we need an official announcement, maybe I am in the minority but then it has to be something that can replace my current Spyder for the same usage patterns.

Anything less practical like no trunk, or a Berg Spyder with no roof is a non starter for me, It has to be drivable in the rain and for road trips, I am not a collector or speculator with my Porsche sports car, I am an enthusiast driver.

You forgot “junior mint enthusiast driver”

The “continuously buy cars and just trade them right back in” crowd (especially when they can make $$$ on it) will be getting these cars; them, and well-heeled collectors.

Oh crap, I forgot about my position in the hierarchy... my bad, I was dreaming a little! Must not be fully awake yet.

As for in crowd, I am secretly hoping that the lowly 718 is too far down in the Porsche pecking order and a regular guy gets a chance to own and actually take out and drive one of these mythical beasts! Or perhaps I am still still dreaming?

The spyder and gt4 are in the big leagues; everyone knows it. GT badging brings a **** ton of credibility. And 4RS ADM speaks for itself. lol

I wasn’t trying to ground you, just chuckle at junior mint designation, and gripe about the system. Keep the dream alive! Surely a few examples will slip through…?

If I didn’t have a sliver of hope (realistic or not), I wouldn’t be courting all these dealerships.

Well then as you say we can't really be sad for what we already have then... the dream it will continue!

Grrrrrr!

Personally I have nothing against the PDK as an all out performance transmission, but IMHO the Spyder needs a MT, it connects me to the car so lets just add it to the dream!

Another question I should have asked the SM…about transmission. Doh! I guess we’ll know soon enough.

Because all signs point to that being a very, very safe assumption.

You should find an excuse to drop back in and have a quick chat... Maybe ask him about a custom radar detector install or something like that, and then change the topic back to the Spyder RS... manual transmission, release date, how does the air get in the engine? Plenty of questions...

Some rationale would be great, if there are actual signs. Such as? A safe assumption, like “they’ll never put the gt3 motor in the 4RS?”

COVID is (temporarily?) abating. It’s initial shock and lack of readiness will not apply again.

The impact of the Ukrainian war is also no longer a surprise, and alternative vendors have been established. Is there a reason to expect the new suppliers to dry up or otherwise reduce capacity?

Is there an expectation of chips or other parts becoming super rare again?

I’m asking, not arguing, since no actual info was provided in this response, except apparent presumption.

The rumor of no more spyders built after CY 2022 would align to a full switch to spyder rs production for CY23; obviously that is ENTIRELY speculation.

This is the LAST run of ICE 718s (as far as we know). All normal run rules are suspended, imo. I’ll gladly take plaque #2500.
