I sincerely hope they don't take a step backwards with the convertible top, it needs to be completely functional in all weather and allow for Vmax when it is up, in other words no 2 piece wonders either.

Yes back in Post #590 you professed you love of the 987.2 top... and added that it couldn't withstand the top speed, not sure why we would even want/need 2 pieces, IMHO it should either be up or down, I don't need a sunshade.

Months ago I said this is how it should be. Intakes where they have put them, lambo-style. Sails attached afterwards so the intakes remain below the sails. This mule looks horrible though! hahaha AP you mf!
Heck last August we were talking about the scoops... but what ever Porsche does I hope it will integrate the look of the current Spyder top better than these early pictures.

I would love a sunshade bikini top for my Spyder. I wish an aftermarket company made them with zip out back panels like they have for Miatas.

My problem with a sunshade is that I have horrible memories of the the one on my YJ, it flapped like a kite and made so much noise you needed ear plugs at highway speeds!

I previously always thought the 986 Spyder top was more cumbersome than it was worth but truth be told, I never really paid attention to how it could be used so recently as I was browsing 986 Spyder top operations on YouTube late at night, I came to realize that although cumbersome if you're looking for a fast way of putting the top down, it was an interesting concept and implemented in an interesting manner where it was basically a two piece string bikini. Drive it with both pieces on. Drive it with everything off or drive it with only the sunshade on and the rear window out.

In this picture, you can clearly see the rear spoiler is much larger than how it is on the regular Spyder and appears much steeper too.

If it keeps with the RS moniker, I don't believe it's within Porsche "history" of modern cars to offer RS models with manual transmissions. I would expect it to come with the same ratios on the GT4 RS because to homologate anything different for the Spyder which will be sold in even less numbers than the GT4 RS will add a lot to the R&D that will need to be recouped.

Less than a 1000 cars total, no manual. Just re-engineered top air intakes and roof will be the same as spyder. Surprised it came a few weeks early, maybe 23rd is the official announcement?
