Supercar blog said a month ago to expect a removable top, so maybe a little folding contraption like the Gen 1 987 Spyder.

One thing is for sure finished product won’t look like that mule. Why the snorkel, could’ve easily been a naca duct.

My SA was sending me the link while it was being posted here, haha he knows I want one.

Except I would say from the pictures we have the "buttresses/sails/fins" could go overtop of it...

This is fantastic news confirming the car is indeed coming! I really am hoping for a 6 speed with this model. Would love to get one in 6 speed.

The top definitely looks out of place without the sails. But, if Porsche builds a different boot with higher/taller humps then I don't think the top will look terrible. I think they can somehow integrate the intake behind the seats into the humps a bit more and make it blend with the lines of the car

which would require a re-designed decklid ... I guess you never know until you know.

Nothing in these pictures makes this look like a Spyder RS. This looks like a limited edition in the making. Plop the GT3 engine in the Spyder chassis, call it special edition, make only 718, sell it to collectors only and wave the ICE goodbye...but I've been wrong once before.

agree - but then I personally doubt it will be branded as an "RS" ... but who knows what if any suspension changes there are "under the hood" ... I'd certainly expect it to "inherit" the PDK-S from the GT4RS ... as for any of the aero changes - those were never likely to happen to a "Spyder" model IMO

Based on this picture, if you look on the passenger side of the trunk deck lid, it looks like a gap exists between the air scoop and the rear trunk deck lid. I would say based on this picture, the air intake is a stationary piece and the trunk deck lid is separate from what on the Spyder is where the sails attach and where the chrome Spyder logo would be.

2022 is 50th anniversary of RS, they’re going to name it RS or have RS in the name. 987.1 RS 60 Spyder…lol.

I guess we will see - frankly it doesn't really matter what they call it ... just seems a shame to dilute the sub-brand with this particular model IMO YMMV

we've got bigger things to worry about other than what they name this ...

Geeze Larry, you don't seem to be fan... throwing the name aside, I don't see what's wrong with putting a more potent engine in the Spyder?
