the phone screen is bright and responsive. the car screen is hard for me to see and (especially with a wireless carplay dongle) sluggish. also carplay has very limited set of apps that it runs.

I'm not an old guy either, i'm only 39 this year but maybe i just dont feel the need to interact with my tech at every minute.
But your reasoning makes sense especially if you do use your phone quite a bit when driving.

i limit my use too. my use is mainly for waze and google maps - it’s good for my marriage to not ask my wife for help navigating. and my garage door remote control app. pandora is fine with the car screen.

But mainly because I use the Uniden app alongside the R8 detector on longer trips/cruises so it's nice to have that running right next to Waze during those drives. I'm not interacting with the phone any more than I would be using CarPlay, it's just an additional screen with info on it.
Yes, but barely. 13 and 14 are same size and my 14 barely fits as pictured, if you get a cord with a smaller plug it would work better but it's the "height" of the phone itself that gets in the way relative to the fixed mounting and magnet locations.
We actually have a place in Naples, but close to Marco!

I too mount the phone next to the PCM, after 4 years of either putting int the glove box or center console, I found that in the glove box the satellite/cell reception was bad, in the console it was fine (I have Smartphone compartment), but awkward to connect to USB for charging.
With a modified Rennline mount and Quad Lock Mag mount with wireless charging, it is easy to slap the phone in place, it gets good cell/Sat connection and charges too, way easier!

3.12 and Pagid yellows are fine on the street. I run the Pagids year round and I know folks much more expert than me who keep the 3.12s on for street use. A little squealing on low speed stops but unless you're a Princess and Pea kind of person or drive a lot in stop and go traffic, not a problem.
Just for another reference point, I have swapped to the 3.12s and I really don't see a downside. The initial bite when cold is pretty good, leaves no desire for more. The dust is not excessive, seems less than the OE pad. Finally the noise, I do get a squeak every now and then, that typically happens when you have not gotten any heat in them to transfer material to the rotor. If they continue to squeak simply get them warm with a few bigger brake cycles. The cost, yea they are more expensive so there is that.
I would 100% buy them again.

So am I. Why would you track ceramic rotors on a regular basis. Seems like a lot of $$ spent for no gain, then add the cost of a track pad that will work with those ceramic discs.
3.12s, Yellows, etc. and Gyrodisc slotted discs. That's your track set up, whether you street the car or not.
I am also talking about competent track drivers, advanced, instructors, racers, etc. Never seen them on a car that's tracked regularly, (including my 2, although I am not a great track driver by any stretch).
Slotted rotors (read: not OEM cross drilled discs) and a real track pad work great on the track and are fine for the street.
Again, I may be misunderstanding what you're saying, and if I am, sorry about that...again.
