Thx in advance.
Update from my SA “Found the VIN on CN rail. Departed NS this morning. Displays an Aug 13 for arrival here to dealer. I have another Porsche in the same load and it says Aug 6th so hoping for that! Friday is always a target date and it can come the following week after unloading and truck here from Annacis”

Further update received email from Porsche that due to chip shortage my car was built with manual steering column to be retro fitted at later stage
This notice applies to your ordered vehicle:

Dear
You must be eagerly awaiting the arrival of your new Boxster, and we look forward to you being able to drive and enjoy it.
Unfortunately, we need to inform you that due to the global semi-conductor shortage, your vehicle could be not be produced with a power adjustable steering column.
Rather than delaying your delivery, it was decided to produce your vehicle with a manual steering column adjustment function instead of an electrically adjustable one. Please rest assured that this is a temporary issue. As soon as the power adjustable steering column chips are available again, your Porsche Centre will retrofit the option onto your vehicle, of course at no charge.
Unfortunately, due to the continually evolving situation, we are not able to provide an ETA for this repair at this time, however we will communicate any updates as soon as they become available.
We thank you for your patience, loyalty, and understanding. In the meantime if you have any questions, please reach out to your Porsche Centre.

Sincerely,

Alexander Pretsch
Director, After Sales
Porsche Cars Canada, Ltd.

Hell, if it weighs less and allows the same adjustment, I'd rather get the manual column.

I agree. The only reason I would miss it is for the “comfort access” with the memory seat which makes getting in and out a bit easier as the steering column moves up and in when you turn the car off. FWP

Are the 2 way seats on a manual track for fore and aft amusement? I hope so. I have that on my Recaros in the GT350 and getting in & out is easy and fast. Plus I don't worry about the electric motors wearing out.

Coming back a couple hours later... I'm actually jealous of that option. No joke.

Maybe due to the chip shortage, I can get them to fit mine with a hydraulic rack...

I was gonna say, stormrune beat me to it. What in the heck are you complaining about??? That is about the best way to acquire an allocation. Who cares how and where it came from. You better get busy on the configurator and figure out what you want!!!! Congratulations!!! And welcome to the Waiting Room!!!

I believe they are electrically adjustable fore and aft and up and down. No memory

They are manually adjustable fore and aft, and up and down. The recline of the seat back is electronically adjustable fore and aft.

Thanks for clarifying. I have 18 ways in mine so wasn’t sure.

There are time where the region will release an allocation to a OPC. I put a deposit down for my upcoming build but with no allocation actually with the OPC. IIRC, he entered me in the system, the regional team saw this, had an allocation to free up and it was mine 3 days later.

As others have said, count yourself lucky regardless of how it happened.

Congrats

Just like the sport seats in my old 996. PERFECT!

Thanks.

My GT4 actually arrived in Port of Emdem on 7/19/2021. Its scheduled to leave on 8/6/2021. The wait continues...hahaha

SA also sent me a screen shot of the tracking and I just noticed that my car entered body shop (V260 CP 0.0) on 6/17/21 and then exited body shop to completion (V270 CP 7.8; V300 CP 8.0) 7/13/21.
That seems to be a really long time for the car to be in production. Hopefully everything is there...haha

Paint is applied when it enters the body shop and that must take at least a week.

That's much longer than most cars I've seen. They tend to take a week to build from what I've seen. Maybe they were awaiting parts, like power seats with chips that were delayed.

Typical time is 5-7 days…but not to worry, extended times quite typical.
