Now that is impressive, not a hint of drone and it rips right through the speakers too!

Seriously, sounds great to me!

I still say my bone stock 2015 Boxster GTS is the best sounding car I will ever own.
Mine was a Boxster as well with the OEM PSE exhaust never a problem, the exhaust sound was excellent.

I had a 981 Boxster S before the GTS, it had a Fabspeed cat back and I can tell you that drone was an real issue with that car. I think I mentioned that a buddy with a 718 GT4 said the drone was killing him until he removed the sound symposer tube.

LOL! That’s what the other 2 video/sound clips were for. But they wouldn’t load. Ha!

Fine, be so kind as to give me a link to a comparable set for pipes $700 then?

Ideally not made out of trash material in China of course.

I can’t wait to learn myself. I am getting 100 miles of ECU time before recording any data. About there. Potential open track day this Sunday would be great. Torque seems more potent by seat of pants.

Dyno schedule is like gold apparently. Shop is calling me with any cancellations to get my 3rd and final data point.

It will be very interesting to see what kind of exhaust system they fitted to the RS. I know the tips are titanium, but I wonder if the muffler / rear section box is different.

Yes, more details that would be interesting to know, Andreas said the exhaust system still meets all of the Euro noise level requirements so I wonder if that means other than the tips nothing else has changed?

That was my understanding of the interview - I tend to believe that if Porsche fitted a modified exhaust, they would be extolling it's virtues as another reason to pony up a lot of cash for the RS...

I have soul ceramic coated oap and soul valved exhaust with cargraphic controller. Only loud when you are ON the gas. Sounds really good, not obnoxious. Better than soul oap and factory exhaust. Sounds better than buddies Fabspeed race exhaust in my subjective opinion

Default BC Fabs Inconel Exhaust

I now have 200+ miles on my BC Fabs Inconel Silenced Valved system.

Sound level is nicely increased, Ben's system uses a smaller diameter pipe for the below 4,000 RPM range and a larger diameter one for higher RPM.
A difference in his system is that the bypass valve is on the larger diameter / high RPM pipe.
The sound transition from low RPM to high RPM is very seamless, I leave PSE off, all the time.
Inconel has a nice pitch to it, a friend of mine listening to a drive by said it has "a classic European GT sound".
The rest of the system is stock with no Valve Controller

Below is a detailed response from Ben about how his system works -
"With PSE off the exhaust gasses pass through the smaller diameter up to about 4000rpm only. The valve then opens 4000rpm and above - gasses pass through both the small path and larger path with the x. When you click PSE on, when stationary, the valve opens and will stay open across the rpm range. When you pull away the valve closes again at around 2000rpm and doesn’t open again until about 4000rpm. Basically Porsche have to adhere to a certain noise level at 30mph hence why the valve opens and closes whether PSE is on/off. The smaller path (under 4000rpm) has been mathematically worked out to not only optimize the sound but performance too, with the amount of gasses passing through the exhaust system under 4000rpm. Same with the amount of gasses above 4000rpm in the larger path."

Drone -
The stock system didn't bother me too much, mainly because I avoided the 2,000 - 3,000 RPM range.
That being said, the stock drone is pretty much gone from 2,200 RPM and up - a big improvement.
There is still some drone between 1,800 - 2,200 RPM when going up through the rev range.

I asked Ben about the low RPM drone, below is his response -
"The resonance you are referring to is reduced when you pair our rear pipe with our OPF deletes (silenced and non silenced) or another way to get round this is as you say, drive with a lower gear. The OEM OPF pipe causes turbulent gasses within the exhaust system which is then heard via resonance. These cars/engines are really susceptible to resonance and we have spent a lot of time in development trying to reduce these unwanted frequencies as much as possible.
The OEM backbox does a pretty good job of reducing these unwanted frequencies by using a series of baffles which obviously have a negative affect on the sound and performance. We feel our design is the best solution to improving the overall volume/sound and performance of the exhaust whilst still maintaining a level of comfort within the cabin."

A few other notes -
The engine revs faster without a doubt, there are some nice, but not excessive, pops & burbles on lift throttle over-run.
Overall volume is perfect for me, If I were looking for more, I would go silenced OPF's next.
It's great to hear a flat-6 engine, not a 2 x 3cyl engine like the stock system.

Clearly the 718 platform has presented many hurdles for the aftermarket exhaust industry, for me personally, this is a very good solution.

We have drawings of the RS exhaust and it’s completely different to the 718 GT4 / Spyder system. Much improved in the headers and OAP area but the rear silencer still leaves a lot to be desired.

Stock exhaust is still steel, bar the tips

We have already started with preliminary development on our direct replacement titanium rear

This....the "Y" diverter is now on the muffler, not the OAP.
Also the secondary O2 is on the OAP just before the GPF.
Connection between OAP and muffler is a single triangular shape flange with 3 bolts. Should be easier to swap OAP on this one.
The cutout drawing from Porsche shows that the muffler has similar design to the one in the GT4...the valve open path dumps into each side without gas mixing.
I have a feeling this system can be further improved....
