TopTech 4110 in 5W40 is the C40 spec oil. If you aren't wed to this vendor the this like shows all the oils grouped together that are C40 available to the retail market in the US.

One more time:

Certs:

https://products.liqui-moly.com/top-...ionalApprovals

And yes, the bottle's label shows C40 cert. I just looked at it with my own eyes.

Thanks, found it. I'd previously found Liqui Moly nextgen in a green jug that one would think was the new GPF friendly oil, but its not.

I emailed a colleague at PCNA with questions about the correct oil and he forwarded my questions to the PCNA Product Support group. They said the part number for the C40 spec oil was 000 043 210 93. Doing a quick search online and I find that oil available at Pelican and a number of Porsche service centers for around $20-25/L.

Or you could buy the LiquiMoly from FCP for $7.61 / Liter which is a damn good price.

Googling that p/n brings up prices from 20-28/ liter except pelican which wants $678/liter, but at least it "may qualify for free shipping. " Sheesh! Yeah, FCP at @8/liter is an absolute bargain. Only problem is they don't have the 5 liter jugs right now, only the 1 liter bottle. I expect more supply in a few months, which is when I will need it.

Too bad LM and Motul are weak GrpIII-based oils that cut corners and rely on the add packs to work. I'll stick with Mobil 1, thanks.

I'm a noob to this, but is it really necessary to change out the filter and plug like people are doing? Also, I've had my Spyder since June and it's seen 1500 miles. It hasn't been started in weeks and once I started it up, it says oil below level drive on possible. Do I just top it off with more C40 or leave it because it needs to heat up? It's been sitting in the garage in the cold winterized

Simple answer, if you plan on driving it, top up the oil, if not let it sit an when you do get going again top it up then.

I was going to ask for additional information but I suspect that this post is simply a smoke bomb... other you would have backed your statement up with facts.

I was wondering when this would turn into a traditional oil thread......

It is somewhat ironic that someone would post on the group III issue considering it was a lawsuit brought by Mobil and a couple others decades ago that allows oils with group III base stocks to be considered fully synthetic because that’s what their products contained.

This —^ especially when A40 M1 0w-40 has a reputation (here at least) for turning into water after a couple of thousand miles.

Isn’t there a theorem that states that any rennlist thread allowed to continue will eventually turn into a ‘which oil is better’ thread?

Or was it about Hitler? I forget. In any case this thread started out with a disadvantage in that regard.

How many miles do you think you would achieve on a Grp IV oil without an additive pack?

If you check the Safety Data sheet for the Mobil X3 you will see that it has <10% PAO so it's hardly a Grp IV based oil and a long way short of the requirement to be called fully synthetic in some countries.

No, I was just comparing the two specs price wise and what I could get them for since he asked how much the Porsche dealer was selling it for.
