If what you are saying were true, then the Vinanalytics USA build numbers would constantly be growing. But they are not.

I only watch GT4. Spyder, Boxster T and Cayman T numbers. But I can tell you that the 2020 US models build totals for those models have remained stable for at least 13 months. And 2021 build numbers have not changed since early July 2021 for those models. 2022 model year numbers will obviously continue to go up as (/if?) Porsche continues to add 2022 allocations.

It's not plausible that no one looked up any different VINs of 2020 models in the last year+. Therefore, I believe your theory is false.

Also reference the 2016 US GT4 build numbers on VA. They have not increased in 4 years.

2020 numbers haven't changed because I personally looked up every single 2020 Spyder VIN in sequence (and watched the total numbers rise as I looked them up one by one). Another guy here did that for 2020 GT4s, and others were doing that for 2021 GT4 and Spyder cars before the data source broke in Feburary this year. Since February, hundreds more 2021 Spyders were built (I've seen sequential VINs in the 800s for 2021 Spyders for instance), but the 2021 Spyder counts reported by VIN Analytics are unchanged since this spreadsheet that ended in February: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...gid=1137700176

As for the 2016 GT4s, they've all been looked up sequentially (by the VIN analytics site owner actually) for DeepView, but that hasn't been done for 2021 and newer GT4 and Spyder. The counts for the four cylinder 718 models are also way off.

Maybe this weekend I'll try making an updated spreadsheet with the limited info they have freely available for 2021 cars now.

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...gid=1137700176

The above spreadsheet of Spyders was accurate in February 2021, with some gaps, some of which may have been built after the date that spreadsheet was last updated. That spreadsheet shows the 485 2021 718 Spyders in the VIN Analytics totals. However, there are lots of VINs for actual 2021 USA and Canada Spyders that were built later that are missing from that spreadsheet of 485 US (and 57 Canadian) 2021 Spyders. For example:

I see what you are saying about the 485 total probably not being representative of all the USA 2021 Spyders. But it does not follow that that build total is incremented as people look up VINs that VA has not had looked up previously.

I posted earlier in this thread WP0CC2A89MS240789 - the VIN of a 2021 Spyder that was delivered to a dealer near me this summer. It was probably one of the later 2021 Spyder VINs. I looked that VIN up on VA when I posted about it in July 2021.

The totals they report were based on how many were looked up prior to their old data source going down. I watched the counts increase hundreds of times as I looked up VINs that hadn’t been previously looked up under the old data source. Since the old data source has gone away, they are no longer updating their counts, hence them not changing reported totals.

WP0CC2A84MS240814 was delivered to me this past July, a 2021 Spyder.

The old 2020 Spyder spreadsheet I made was missing a few cars. I just updated it to make it complete for all North American 2020 VINs. For reference, the actual final numbers for 2020 Spyders (North American VIN sequence) were 410 for USA, 144 for Canada, and 11 for Arabia. Link: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1LW3...ew?usp=sharing

I'm also working on producing a complete spreadsheet of all 2021 Spyders for North America. It's currently missing 149 cars in the middle, but hopefully I'll finish it up later this week. Link: https://drive.google.com/file/d/13D9...ew?usp=sharing

I was doing the 2021 Spyders before the old data source for VINanalytics went down. I added a few when the new data source first came up (on a private copy of the spreadsheet), but when I found out a few weeks later that there would be a charge for the full data I decided it wasn’t worth the time invested to put the rest in until more data is readily available. I’m out of town right now, but I can provide the other details I have collected this weekend Wizee to save you looking them up again.

Oh, nice. I currently have all the NA 2021 Spyders except WP0CC2A82MS240651 to WP0CC2A88MS240749 in my spreadsheet.

Why does VA only show 485 2021 Spyders for the US, but your spreadsheet shows many more?

VIN analytics stopped updating their counts after their old data source went down. Their counts only include VINs that were looked up before their original data source was cut off. My spreadsheet is more complete, though I need to add 99 more cars.

VIN analytics; they have a new data source, but they only provide the colour and country for free now, and charge for other option data. That’s why I have question marks for other options on cars that hadn’t been looked up before the old source went away. They look up cars on demand when you request a VIN, and sometimes the first lookup times out, and you need the look up the same VIN again to get data, but I’m finding there are actually no gaps in the VIN sequence.
