Longer answer: Porsche still hasn't announced if they will continue production into the '23 model year. It could be that they haven't finished their product planning yet. If they continue their production past '22 then it will be a while before we know actual total production numbers. If they wrap it up with a '22 model year and move to RS production, then we should have a number later in the year.

You used to be able to search VinAnalytics for build data, but that’s firewalled now. That data was hand jammed one Vin at a time.
Never seen Porsche break down delivered numbers beyond 718.

What had hinder Porsche from delivering all of the cars they could possibly build is unfortunately been a run of bad luck for Porsche. Starting from a delay in certifying the cars for sale for MY20, to suspension gate, to con rod gate, to various supply issues, to now Felicity Ace. When PAG released the 981 GT4/Spyder, they probably only planned for the short production run and didn't realize the amount of demand and interest for the car so for the 982 GT4/Spyder, it seems that they planned a "full" production run of MY20, MY21, MY22 and I assume MY23.

World events have delayed the 982 follow-on, but I'm sure there is an interest in getting back on track soonest.

For the GT4 I prefer the 718 variant. It is the track day weekend racer oriented model. While I think the 981 variant is a great car, I also think the 718 upgrades make sense for the model where lap times and track performance matters.
For the Spyder I prefer the 981 or 987 variants. It is the lightweight purist road going model and the 981/987 stays truer to that ethos. I think the 718 is a good car too but the 981/987 are already pushing far past the limits of attainable performance on public roads so my preference is towards the lighter, more nimble, and better sounding variants.

I had shared these spreadsheets I made earlier in this thread, but I'll just share them again so people don't have to dig for them.
2020 Spyders: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1LW3...ew?usp=sharing
2021 Spyders: https://drive.google.com/file/d/13D9...ew?usp=sharing
The 2020 list is complete for all North American market cars. The 2021 list is missing some cars in the range WP0CC2A82MS240651 to WP0CC2A88MS240749, and missing option details for many cars. The data is missing because VIN Analytics started paywalling their data for VINs that hadn't been looked up previously. Nevertheless, my understanding is that all cars in that VIN range exist.
North American production numbers for Spyders are thus:
2020 Spyders: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1LW3...ew?usp=sharing

Back to the topic of rarity, not rare at all. I have seen a lot of 718 GT4s in my area. On Autotrader I see about 2x as many 718 GT4/Spyders for sale than 981/987s. It is great that Porsche is building as many as they can.

In my last 5 years of being obsessed with Porsche I have only seen 1 981 Spyder in the wild and a hand full of GT4's other then at car shows or dealers. I have never seen another 718 Spyder around in the wild here in south florida what is strange. You just don't see 718 Spyders anywhere from what I've seen. People are always asking me about my 718 Spyder wherever I go.

In the past 2 years, in southern Ontario (GTA and Waterloo region), I’ve seen one Spyder in the wild, and five GT4s. They may be more common sights in specific localities. Of course I’ve seen lots at Porsche meetups, but that’s different.
