I received a quote from Cargraphic (350 euros excl placement) and a note showing how to install this. While I would not do it myself, this does not seem very complicated and fortunately does not involve any cutting of wires, etc. Essentially unplug a cable and then plug the Cargraphic thing in it. You would also need to screw the small Cargraphic grey box somewhere near the engine.

I really like it under 4000 rpms. Valves are always open, it’s 15%-20% louder than before.
You hear the downshifts a little more now. Is it a radical change: NO. Is it better: YES. Low end torque; I didn’t notice any change.
I suspect a very subtle resonance at highway speeds (80mph in 6th gear).
Bottom line: worth it. I’d recommend doing it on a lift (takes 20 min). See below how I attached the hoses
good stuff, how did you seal the open ends after disconnecting the cables?

and does the mod change the character of sound or simply make it louder?

It does not seems to require any special tools, no. They brand it as plug and play.

you’d need long nose pliers to plug them off

Very interesting.

Is the sound different only at 2000-4000 rpm range or also in other conditions?

When you push the exhaust button: the valves open and close depending on RPMs and throttle position. Usually they are closed between 2000 and 4000 rpms. (Most normal driving is in this range).
when you unplug the connection to the valves, the valves are ALWAYS open. The difference is significant under 4000 rpms. Above 4000rpms no difference at all.

Thanks for the tip! Pulling the exhaust hoses will be the first mod I do to my GT4 when it arrives. Louder exhaust and free = no brainer.

I’ve never been under a GT4 before, or any Porsche for that matter, is it easy to determine which are the vacuum hoses? Would anyone who’s done this happen to have a pic of what to pull out?

Much appreciated

trust me you cannot miss it! Especially on a lift. It takes 20 min all in

DocMo, are you located in Europe? Regardless, have you considered adding a GPF-delete pipe? Have you asked if that would void the warranty?

In Switzerland, dealers here always tell you don’t touch it. Will it void the warranty? it depends on so many things. It’s a risk I will take. I think once I am sure I have found the best exhaust option. GPF delete seems the most sensible move...I am waiting for more options. Are you thinking of a specific exhaust brand?

Being in Switzerland, you'll void the warranty and fail the emission test, by removing the GPF! Here in the US, we get a pass-through inert filter which still muffles the sound. I haven't asked my Service Adviser yet on the exhaust mods I'm planning on. So far, the vendors with options are: JCR, SuperSprint and CarGraphic. Tuners are catching up. Within a year, we would have many options fully flushed out and vetted. I'm intentionally delaying my allocation as late as possible; probably into MY22. Just trying to scoop up all the info I can since a good sound is extremely important to me!

By the way, do you get sound from downshift-blipping after 4k? The valve flaps only address until 4k as you noted. So, if there was no downshift-blip sound before, after 4k, you still wouldn't have now, after the mod, right? Thanks.
