The SOUL valve controller should sound basically equivalent to the screw mod or wiring the valve to open ? (thanks @GAZZ )
I have the Soul valve controller ready to install at same time as exhaust (coming in a couple of weeks). The Soul vs cargraphic is a different concept/install. The cargraphic plugs in the OEM valve control and bypasses the signal so you can keep valves open all the time (same as grubscrew or wire mod) or use the OEM programming. The Soul offers the same modes as the cargraphic module OR you can install it to get OPEN all the time/CLOSED all the time and loose the OEM programming possibility. The Soul needs power from fuse box AND taping the vaccum lines so a bit more complex to install. Needs muffler off to facilitate access to vacuum lines. Soul cheaper than Cargraphic.

SO same end result with cargraphic vs Soul but install simpler on cargraphic.

It is subtle but better.
The car still sound like if two 3 cylinders engines “copulated“ (instead of a real 6 cyl engine sound) but it is good enough for me, for now.
I did not really noticed the drone some were experiencing.

Cheap mod, easy the revert back if you dont like it... No real downside to try

Has anyone noticed a reduction in torque by modding the valves to be always open? That was an issue on some 997s.

this is surely the simplest mod. And super easy to remove if required as has been said. Anyone else tried this method. Any feedback?

yup-easily 2-300C. The wire will need to be metal but most metals have enough tension strength and a melting point way higher than the exhaust will get.

Just done this on mine. Super easy to install even without a lift. Took me about 2/3mins per side.

No drone under acceleration whether gentle or at full throttle. There was a little drone on the overrun when cold eg at 2000-3000rpm but that disappeared once it had warmed up.

It’s not night and day but there’s definitely more character below 4000rpm when the valves where previously shut. And cost me less than $5 in wire :-)

FWIW I tried this on my Spyder. I was not happy with the sound below 4K. It made a flat blatting sound, like a riced 4-cyl. I quickly undid the mod. I’ll be looking into other options.

Sounds like it went into cylinder deactivation mode. You must also press the button to deactivate this. This will always be the case regardless of ANY mods or exhaust!

Thanks GAZZ. I was pretty sure I had auto-start/stop turned off. I will retry later this week and report back. Thanks.
