I agree. That didn’t sound so great to me...and by and large very few Ferraris I’ve ever heard in person sound all that great. Now that could just be the equipment that takes away from how it truly sounds. For me, the GT3s always have great engine and exhaust notes and surely some of the best at any time. The Carrera GT or 918 might be two of the best sounding cars history will ever get for a street car, as they are perfect to my ears.

Sounds awesome and better, more mechanical, more GT3-like than 981 GT4/Spyder. OPF-delete pipes and it will be perfect. Needs nothing more.

Yeah, I’ve always felt the sound of the 981 generation was rather inauthentic/unnecessary. No generation of GT3 ever sounded like that, and 986/996/987/997 never sounded like that either. Videos of the 718 GT4/Spyder with OPF delete pipes sound authentic/mechanical and pretty good to me, particularly when the exhaust valves are overridden to stay open even at low speeds. Soul Performance’s over axle pipe demo video sounds great to me, particularly with the valves open, so I’ll probably be getting their over axle pipes for my (upcoming) Spyder. Fabspeed and JCR’s over axle pipes also achieve a similar effect.

At least based on the two videos from Soul the more I watch them I think I am starting to lean more to just the delete pipes as well as being a good balance (nice tone and not too loud); well that and sticking the valves in the open position. The upside as well is it’s also financially efficient to just need the one piece.

Would however still be curious to hear some sort of headers / hi-flow cats / delete pipe / OEM silencer combo though.

I am leaning strongly to beginning with the OAP, and if needed follow this up with a valved muffler system. Waiting to see the design and pricing of the OAP from JCR and the valved muffler system from Soul.

Same here. I am leaning on getting the Soul OAP/OFP delete pipe now and then following up with a valved muffler system from JCR or Soul if I need more sound (which I'm pretty sure will happen). GB Spyder should be here in little over a month and am immediately wanting to ditch the OFPs while running valves open.

I'm leaning towards the Soul OAP as well, simple...and don't want to get into replacing entire exhaust chasing a sound.

So if I disconnect and plug the vacuum lines does that mean I'm always in Sport mode at every rpm? No need to push a button?

Correct. Unplugging will simply keep the flaps open 100% of the time over all rev ranges. That's the important detail "over all rev ranges" because I think the stock PSE system will close the valves at some lower rev ranges.....even when you have the button pressed with the intention of having them open. I did this with my previous car which had similar set up and disconnecting the valves definitely improved the sound at lower rev ranges even with the stock sport exhaust button pressed to be open.

In my conversation with John G @ SOUL, he indicated sport mode even when on does not open Sport exhaust until 5000 rpms in 1st gear, 3800? in 2nd.
Going to do the OAP and un-plug, simple and why not have Sport sound all the time?! My neighbors are used to it...

I read some GT3 owners doing this and they say it drones are certain rpm ranges - is this the case with the GT4 also? I’m guessing yeszz

What are the ranges? Maybe not a huge problem, but maybe... I had a droning issue in my last vehicle and unfortunately it was int the RPM range where a person typically cruises on the hwy (i.e. 6th gear and 120kph). VERY annoying. I really hope this is not the "drone zone" on this car because it sounds (no pun intended) that the unplugging of the vac hoses is a no-brainer given a OAP swap.

in the 718 spyder I didn’t have any drone with the valves full opened manually.

The sound is much better!

I've disconnect vacuum lines from my Spyder and can confirm there is no drone, and the sound is improved considerably.
