Its probably the only time you can drive your GT4 in Europe! I just suggest expanding your time to a week at least. once you do that lots of amazing experiences are open to you. I'm moving delivery to September from June myself so i can align with larger group. I did a september delivery my GT3 and it was fantastic! I drove Monza, Mugello, Bugatti (Sarthe LeMans), Nurburgring, even a lap around Monaco
I'm 90% not doing ED on the Spyder. Time is the problem. 2-3 day's isn't enough even if for a factory, museum and autobahn drive. Think I would feel short changed. Can't extend the trip longer as 2-3 days would be a stretch in May-June. Even if 2-3 days, to save time at home I'd take a night flight arriving next day morning, that day would be a slowish day due to travel and time difference. So 1 day lost, leaving 1-2 days of doing stuff. At least a week would be best to take in the car, Porsche factory stuff, MB museum and some food and couple sights, 10 days for doing mountain pass drives plus the stuff previously mentioned at relaxed pace.

My car locks March 6 entering body shop April 10. This before any CXX are confirmed, hope it won't change dates.

Ask him to take a screen shot of his computer with the Porsche Sales and Vehicle Management System for your vehicle. Here is the screen shot of my 911 ED. It takes your SA 2 minutes to capture and email.

Thinking of doing ED (my first) with a Boxster GTS 4.0.

What is the longest one could legally keep an ED car in Europe before it must ship to usa? Where to buy extra insurance beyond the included 16 days and how much does it cost (approx per month)? Is it possible (advisable) to drive from Germany straight down south to fair weather Spain during winter? Must the car be returned to Germany for shipping or could it be also shipped from, say, Spain? Thx in advance!

I think it must be back to the US in 6 months
I also believe that Porsche will give you insurance for 60 days (extra cost??)
There is a page on the Porsche website saying which other ports/cities you can drop the car off (again for an extra fee)....I will looks at my ED documents to see if I still have it

actually you should PM Trakcar...he has done ED twice and done all the major tracks in Europe and stays for weeks/months after the ED date.

There is also the Euro Delivery forum here..https://rennlist.com/forums/european...ce-center-236/

Here is the Porsche website address for ED: https://www.porsche.com/usa/motorsportandevents/deliveryprograms/europeandelivery
Regarding insurance---
"Currently, the European Delivery program provides 16 days of collision coverage and third-party liability insurance, commencing on your specified delivery date. You are therefore fully insured (liability insurance and collision coverage) for the first 16 days of your trip. If your European travel plans exceed 16 days, you may obtain additional automobile insurance through Porsche.

At the time of ordering, it is advisable to work with your dealer and obtain additional third-party liability and collision coverage for periods beyond the 16 days included in the program. Extensions to this coverage may be obtained in Europe, but the process is time-consuming and may interfere with your travel plans. You may pay for the additional insurance at the factory in Euro, U.S./Canadian Dollars, credit cards, or Traveler’s Checks. The insurance coverage indicated on the European Delivery Vehicle Order Form will be included in your papers."

Regarding dropping at different cities in Europe for shipping back to USA--

"You can return your vehicle to the Leipzig factory at no additional charge 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, every day of the year. Please note that vehicles can not be returned to Zuffenhausen. The closest alternative remote drop-off location to Zuffenhausen is in nearby Sindelfingen.

If you would like to make alternate arrangements for dropping off your vehicle for return shipment, we have contracted International Freight Forwarders, Inc. to facilitate the transport. IFF, Inc. has partnered with transport agents throughout Europe which will allow you to drop off your vehicle in a number of major European cities:
  • Germany – Berlin, Bremerhaven, Duisburg, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Munich, Sindelfingen
  • France – Paris, Nice
  • Switzerland – Geneva, Zurich
  • Great Britain – London
  • Belgium – Antwerp
  • Netherlands – Amsterdam
  • Spain - Madrid
  • Slovenia - Koper
Additional charges will apply to cover the transportation cost. Detailed information, including contact information and pricing for each drop-off location will be sent to you with your European Delivery package, or you can request this information in advance from your responsible Dealer or from your European Delivery Specialist."

kfmcmahon, thanks, that was very helpful! I did remember to contact Trakcar and he provided great info, as well. The car has yet to be announced and dealers have yet to get allocations so this is probably for potential ED early next year.

Just got confirmed for April 29th @ Leipzig!

Very happy!! It was on the bucket list...
I'll post my planning (when I have time work on it) to get comments from experienced folks.

Autobahn, Ring and some mountain passes (opened?) are for sure on the plan...

Try not to miss Spa - it's pretty amazing too (and a short drive from the Ring).

I'm waiting for confirmation but will probably also pick up my GT4 from Leipzig around the same time. I look forward to reading more on your planning!
