@BackroadsCarver , all good. I've been a long time reader of this forum, and long before I got my allocations, I know many on this forum did face a true 'stop sale' with the con-rod issue...so I'm overly sensitive to those words now that I have cars heading my way.

EDIT: "Order Stop" was the exact term!
better term...

Amen to not using the term "Stop Sale", probably a better way to describe these shortages is with a few more words, for example "PCCB's as an option are not currently available for new builds" or "PTS as an option is not currently available"

I thought I would chime in here, since I have the 992 GT3 with the FAL. Yes, it does work with multiple locations via GPS. However, I have purposely turned off this function for the following reason:

The new rear diffuser is very low on the new GT3 (and I suspect the new GT4 RS may be as well). So, while the FAL will allow you to clear most obstacles with the front lifted, keeping the FAL on will often cause you to scrape the rear diffuser (raising the front lowers the rear). So, I have found it necessary to use the FAL in a 2-step process to make sure the nose is lowered when the rear is about to scrape and raising the nose when the nose is about to scrape as you are half-way over an obstacle (reverse process when backing over vs. going forward over the same obstable like a driveway).

The automatic GPS just gets in the way for this sort of manipulation (as it will try to lift the nose exactly when you are trying to lower it, if the location is in the memory).

Now that you mention this...I find on the GT4 the rear more of a problem than the front (main reason why no FAL for my build)......that rear diffuser sits lower than the front.

And thinking about this more, I think there is a shorter rear overhang on the GT4 RS (longer wheelbase with less overhand on the mid-engined models), so maybe the rear is dropped to a smaller degree when lifting the nose on the 718...

From the online description as well as the pricing differential to the GT3 (as if that means anything to PAG) I would say it does not. Regardless one still has to watch if what GrantG mentions will hold true for the GT4RS as well.

Thanks guys, I never thought about the rear diffuser. The front trim is more of a wear and tear part but the rear is not. I may pass on the FAL. I still have plenty of time.

BTW...the center diffuser section is the one that usually scrapes...that's also replaceable.

Today I bought two PCA raffle tickets to win a GT4 RS. Despite having put down my first deposit on one in Nov. 2015(!), I probably have a greater shot of getting one in the raffle. :-)

My dealer, which sells at MSRP only, says I will most likely get a call, but who gets the allocations will depend almost entirely on what we have to trade at a well-below market value.

Back in the late 1990s, I worked at CMGI, which some of you may remember (don't throw eggs at me if you lost money; I did, too). I was in corporate development buying businesses with the company's stock. I remember the CEO telling a joke once at a big company meeting. It went something like this: Father says to the son, Son, I am sorry but we have to get rid of Spot, the dog. Son says No, dad, we can't get rid of Spot; we've had him my whole life! Sorry, son, Spot has to go, the dad implores. Son says, Dad, please let me at least try to sell Spot. Who's going to buy Spot, son, the dad says. Son says let me try. Ok, dad says. Two days later son tells dad: You're never going to believe it, dad, but I sold Spot for $200,000! What, the dad, says, puzzled. No one is paying $200,000 for old Spot. Sons says Yeah, I traded him for two hundred-thousand-dollar cats. :-)

Let's see what my dealer thinks of my cats.

No direct experience with the GPS FAL on the 992, but the GPS Homelink in my old Taycan 4S was garbage. Not like reaching to hit a button is hard anyway.

Let me help you with this.

Dealers never trade at market value. They trade at wholesale. They are in the business to make $. Expecting market value as a trade is living in a dream world.
