Would be nice if Porsche positioned it between the 911 GTS (473 hp) and GT3 (502 hp). I'm not betting on it. I am in the camp of 450 hp at best. I do hope I am wrong.

You think the GT4RS should start somewhere between $160k and $200k???

Yes... For years people have been asking for the ultimate Cayman and not handcuffing it. This isn't suppose to be an entry car... It's the final ICE version... the Swan song. Why not?
Fact is there are people that prefer a mid-engine platform over rear no matter what... People need to get over the 911 is king concept.

I'm not so sure about this final ICE engine. AP has said that the current engine will last a long time and Porsche has said many times that they will be the last company to keep building ICE.

It is inevitable, but I don't think we will get there for a while.

Next iteration will be Hybrid... so yes, last 100% ICE.

You are thinking like most of us...Porsche enthusiasts and owners. But the reality of vehicle manufacturers, specially for the most profitable of all of them, is that it has to make sense from a business and marketing standpoint.
People are not the original ones putting the 911 as King...it's Porsche and there's a reason to the logic behind it.
Besides what some people here "connected" to PAG and cleaning ladies say...some things will never happen.

I still say that PAG is different from GM. GM doesn’t care that Corvettes and Camaros have the same engine with same output, etc.

I respectfully disagree with this statement because Porsche actually tried to kill off the 911 with the 928 but we all know how that went. Porsche fanatics are some of the most hardcore (read: whiny ) fans in the business. Here's what I mean by that. Corvette fans accepted the switch to mid-engine and they're some loyal followers. Ferrari fans have long accepted that none of their cars are offered with a manual transmission and now turbos for all and those are also some loyal fans. ....but try and kill the rear engine design and Porsche fans riot and instead kill the successor. The 911 has now become an iconic brand in and of itself.

There is good reason to believe that maybe PAG will allow the GT4 RS to outperform the 992 GT3 or 991.2 GT3 RS and there is also good reason to believe that it will never happen. Whenever we finally see the release, we will then know what PAG's research has told them. If we see performance just below the 991.2 GT3 RS or 992 GT3, then we know PAG still holds the GT4 and Spyder to be a lower status than the 911 but if we see the GT4 RS eclipse the 991.2 GT3 RS and/or 992 GT3, then we know that PAG has decided to remove all handcuffs and maybe the 983 GT4/Spyder will be even closer or even better than the 992 GT3.

Now if they go with the later, I might go from my "forever car" to an updated 983 Spyder that has a higher performance potential. Just saying....

...or maybe the 982 Spyder RS/limited edition/special edition is real.......

I think their marketing dept understands maximum sales benefits from a clear hierarchy that is not violated. Halo car purchasers will be discouraged if their halo car can be unexpectedly demoted to second tier.

The 911 will always be king, unless EV technology makes this untenable, somehow.

I wonder what it'll mean for the road car now that the new gt4 clubsport is getting a 4.0 cup engine, restricted but a cup engine nonetheless.

This isn't anything official but Porsche recently had a showing of the new clubsport to future owners at Road America, theres a thread in the clubsport forums where this discussion is ongoing. More reliable then a cleaning lady but still hearsay, hopefully there will be an official confirmation soon.
