Yet there are many out there running way higher HP in 718's and even 981's with bigger engines and no reports ( that I read) of MT transmission failures... ?

The gearbox supplier (Getrag?) does not stand behind them if used with over 309 ft-lbs. Porsche doesn’t want the full burden of replacement (and legal liability of accidents caused by failure of knowingly using inadequate hardware).

The gearing is also wrong for a 9k rpm engine.

Because the aftermarket is not as concerned since they don't have to warranty and/or ensure reliability. They just hook up to them for the most part.

Not to challenge what you have just said, but I wonder if like in the GT3 before that was released with only PDK that Porsche has learned that buyers want a manual and will rise to the occasion?

I think people should be overjoyed if they are able to get a GT4 RS allocation regardless of PDK or manual. My dealer believes there will be less than 1,000 GT4 RS units coming to US as a limited edition model and gobbled up by only VIP clients.

Yes, there is that angle as well... the Porsche Buyer Hierarchy!

Welcome to Rennlist! You seem oddly uninformed or maybe havent kept up with my interactions with @TRZ06 . Its a bit of a love/hate thing. Im still gonna bet that he is in and out of the GT4 when the Z06 comes out if he can get one as my read is that he is giving Pcars a shot, but ultimately will end up being a disappointment. I know because I myself have had many cars (some of them Vettes, even) and the two cars are too different to reconcile. Usually a person is one or the other... not both.

If this model is primarily being used to homologate the new race car, then it seems unlikely that their attention will be on satisfying every potential buyer.

In the case of the 911 Cup race car, the GT3 RS is used to homologate it (and there hasn’t been a Manual version of that model for over 10 years).

Depending on the GT4rs release date, that VIP deal is expiring soon? It was for 10 years or something,I recall based on that invite package.

just under 2000 units globally.. so that sounds about right for USA.

Well yes, I must admit I just got here. I will go and study up and report back what I learn as I'm oddly not up to speed on, your relationship.

You're Still dead wrong as many of us cross ship and buy both cars.

Is this statement reliable? I’m #1 on the list and even with half expired VIPs with 1000 units it will be tough to get one.

I think at this point nobody really knows anything with certainty , but with the world being in the state its in it may just happen due to various shortages. I'm 1st on my dealers list as well but I'm honestly worried I may not get one. They've always been great in the past, only selling for msrp etc but they're also a small volume dealership so who knows how many allocations they'll get if any. There's also the question whether the road car will actually get a gt3 motor, if not I'll probably just stick with my regular old gt4.

Even #1 on the list comes after a dealership’s preferred client list. If you’re not an established premiere customer, on a truly limited edition, you’re likely to get nada.
