Yes the original GT4 quite a few times. Not the new GT4. Faster and more fun are two different things.

All of this is just opinion. No right or wrong.

Stepping out of a Cayman S manual, PASM, PTV, etc, and into a GT4 was not a life changing experience. It felt like the same car turned up a bit. I don't drive on the track. Factor in a $30-40K difference in MSRP for the cars I drove over my car. (plus ADM in some cases) Then factor in the trade value of my car at the time and the jump in cost was in no way worth it. I drove two different GT4's on two separate days. Highway, city, backroads. Each time jumping back in my CS.

Once you start talking about the 991.2 GT3 or 997.2 GT3 RS they are in a whole different league. I do think the GT4 is a cooler shape and package but just handicapped.

I was chasing down a 991.2 GT touring allocation and getting frustrated with dealer BS. Then drove the 991.2 T and found it a lot more exciting on the street and went that route. (torque+gearing).

I was on the list for the 718 GT4 and dropped out when I found out it had the same gearing. Kept my Carrera T and picked up the M2CS to play with.

If the GT4RS ends up having a manual, better gearing and 500hp I would be interested. Not sure I believe that is a combo they are going to release.

Reading everything you just said... and based on my experience... it just seems to me that GT cars aren't the right cars for you. You're MUCH better served with the street cars... and that's all by design.

Well there is no doubt I don't go to the track at this point. Been there and done that with track cars and other things. However I have had much more fun in the 997.2 GT3 RS on the street than most of the cars I mentioned. A close family member of mine owns one and we swap cars from time to time. The sense of occasion and NVH alone make the experience way more engaging than any GT4 I have driven. So not sure your statement holds water.

Doubtful anyone's going to knock a 997.2 GT3 RS. That's a great car. Can't speak to the GT4 but the 718 Spyder compared to my previous 981S is in another league. The 718 is significantly faster and feels like a race car where the 981 felt like a really nice street sports car. Except for the 981 howl at 6K+ rpms, the 718 does everything better. A lot better.

I was only commenting on what you said about speed relative to the 981S and the 991.2. I've owned a 981S, 981 Spyder and a 991.1 C2S, and now a 718 GT4. The 718 GT4 roasts all three of them in speed and handling, with the C2S being the closest of the three, though the GT4 is a more fun driver. Obviously, none of them are comparable to the GT3. And the regular 911 models are an entirely different animal and really not directly comparable to the GT4. Different experience for a different goal/need.

718GT4 vs 981S/GTS/GT4: My GT4's mileage is still in double digits and I haven't wound it out or even gone WOT yet, but my initial impression is that it's revs more freely in the mid-range than I remember of previous caymans. Again, VERY initial impressions but it reminds me more of the S54 in my old coupe in how it revs, but with the power and torque of a 991.1 flat six. I'm expecting to be very satisfied with this engine when I finally open up, even compared to the S55 in my M3. Something that I can't say about any other Cayman I've driven.

They better make those wheels available unlike what they did with the 991.2 GT3RS where only a few people were able to get the mag wheels.

CLs @ $15k No thank you. 5 lug all the way std is what I want to see. If a Weissach option puts CLs on I'm sure there will be a few that'll option it.

That's not how it works.. they don't change the hubs for weissach. All GT4rs have CL

I'll have to agree with you here, though I can only speak from my experience owning a 981 CS with PSE, and regularly driving a friend's 981 GT4. It was honestly a very marginal upgrade.

My 991.1 GT3, on the other hand, felt like a huge jump from a standard 991.1 911. Between the cabin noises, lightning-quick PDK, and 9K redline, it was a whole different league of performance and experience.

Not sure you can go by what was done on GT3s, RS or otherwise. There were enough mules running around with 5 lugs

Well, with the higher than expected increase for the new GT3 what are the guesses now for a base MSRP on the GT4RS?
