What do you guys think about how that compares to what’s going on market wise right now? Obviously I’d rather pay no ADM. But I’d also rather see my car in the next seven or eight months. Any stories of allocations still being sold at MSRP right now or is the vig still necessary?
If you're in CA, $15K sounds pretty reasonable. You might be able to negotiate a.bit, but I'd imagine there are many who would snap up that deal.

I saw a $15k adm for a spyder in NC about 2 months ago, so that amount in California isn't bad.

Sold that 981 Spyder one month too soon and left $8K-10K on the table. But I sold it in one day to a dealer in Florida who wired the money sight unseen so there's that. I do have a 2021 C8 convertible that I bought extremely right that will offset the Spyder pounding I'm about to sign up for.

lol. Yeah. I get how negotiations work, but my fear is that I say $7500 over and they reject, and then send my allocation somewhere else. I hate this NEW market. Never paid even sticker in my life for any car.

If you want the car pay it. Of course counter, in person negotiation is better.

Do you have a relationship with the dealer?

Can you find an allocation at lower ADM before line closes.

My small dealer has 15 waiting for BASE 718s, they no longer take wait list requests on 4.0 cars.

For SoCal, that seems to be on the lower end of what others have reported in Cali. The question is really whether or not you're willing to pay since it's your checkbook. Keep in mind, the end of the 982 GT4/Spyder is near. Nobody knows EXACTLY when the line will close but we all know it's near so if you pass on this opportunity and hope for at least MSRP, you're taking a chance on not even getting a car. People have reported that used GT4/Spyders are getting premiums so it may be worth paying the $15k to spec your own new car vs paying that on a used car.

As others have suggested, maybe try negotiating with them to split the difference. Or if they're stuck on $15k ADM, maybe suggest bringing that down to $7500 ADM and the remaining $7500, allow you to add that in options so at least you're getting something out of it vs just padding their pockets. ...or better yet ask if you can put all $15k into options to build the car up in price.

In this market $15k sounds good. Someone from Cali just scooped a new GT4 from my east coast dealership for $35k ADM, plus add on the transport fees to Cali being about $2k now. And that one was already spec'ed -- an allocation for build would be even more valuable in my opinion.

Just got a call from a dealer in Oregon, they have a '22 Spyder in GT Silver Metallic with 500 miles. Didn't think to ask price as I got my allocation just last month.

I guess it doesn't quite fit in this thread but thought I'd share anyways.

It seems like everyone is trying to get Spyders. Hopefully that means I'll be able to get my Boxster GTS allocation soon. 😁

I'm taking it. I was offered an MSRP allocation two years ago when I still had my 981 Spyder and I passed on it and have lived with regret ever since.

Now comes the hard part. Speccing it out. So far, I've come up with this: PNTU4U72. Any of you folks care to comment and offer suggestions? Anything glaring that I'm missing? I intentionally omitted the body colored roll bars because I wanted to keep the Chalk limited to below the belt.

I'm going with PCCB's with black calipers because I think the yellow calipers would not look too good with the Aurum wheels, but I also have a set of black GT4 wheels sitting in storage that would look better with the yellow calipers. Decisions decisions.

I've seen Chalk/Aurum with black/yellow interior in person and it blew me away so I think I'm set there, but the Chalk?Spyder Classic Interior is also stunning. My wife and kid did NOT like the red upper dashboard, though, and I tend to agree. But overall, without focusing on that part of the dash, the SCI is just intoxicating.

The SCI is very nice. My first build was gentian with sci, which I think would have been amazing in person, but I chickened out. But now I’m getting Python, so go figure. lol

Haha, same here. I really like the SCI but I'm not brave enough to do it with Shark Blue and Aurum wheels.

That would be extra spicy. lol A veritable feast for the eyes. But this will likely be my last Porsche (barring the spyder rs), so I decided to go all in. To hell with caution, get a rolling party; one that will make me grin every time I see it.

I just need to figure out ahead of time how to politely (?) address and dismiss those that feel compelled to tell me they don’t like it.

IMO SCI is 👎… obviously highly subjective… there’s just too much going on. I’d rather they would make it easy and offer a few interior color choices that are available with the GTS. With that said I used the deviated stitching option (cognac) to break the black interior and coordinate with the aurum wheels on my spec.

lol Case in point. Why someone feels compelled to tell you THEY don’t like something you clearly do is beyond me.

I hate to say it, but I think I might just get a new Miata while I wait for the Porsche market to return to normal (if ever). The current state of affairs at this point doesn't have much to do with global supply issues. The current market craziness is due to greedy dealerships and speculators/scalpers.

Don't get me wrong, if I get a call tomorrow for a BGTS at MSRP, I'm taking it. But I don't see that happening. My last interaction with Porsche of South Orlando ended when the SA said that their next BGTS allocations would be $20-$30K ADM. For a Boxster...lol
