992 production in general has been prioritized over all 718s for the foreseeable future.

I guess anything could happen in 6 months if supply problems sort themselves out, but in the last 6 months though my dealer has had one GT4 allocation. They likely wont see another one for awhile as they were confident they were done for new allocations with delivery dates before jan 1. When I put my deposit down I asked how many they had done so far for GT4s and I believe they delivered about 10 so far at that time. Ya, MY22 will see delivery dates until fall of next year, but unless Porsche really opens up the books it looks like my dealer is going to deliver 2... maybe 3 GT4s for the MY22 at this rate compared with 10 with MY20 and half of MY21.

Well then you thought wrong. According to VA about 100 more Spyders have been built in MY21 than MY20 and we still have a few weeks left.

It’s not like MY20 was an easy go….

Makes sense the MY change over is July; it aligns with the 992 — they’re produced same line at Zuff.

I wonder if part of the reason we're not seeing a lot of GTS/GT4/Spyder allocations is related to the conrod issue. There are a fair number of owners like me waiting for engine replacement on a car that should have been delivered in late March. If I could find an allocation, I'd take it and abandon the car I ordered. Since there are no allocations, I'm stuck waiting and I'll probably end up buying the car I ordered once the engine replacement is complete. My guess is around September, when all of the engine replacements are done, we'll see new allocations come available for deliveries in 2022. We'll also see conrod cars in dealer inventory from buyers who walked.

New guy here, need sanity check. Local dealer telling me for a Boxster base build, I can expect delivery end of the year, as he's quote confident he will get an allocation in July.

Yeah or nay?

Thanks in advance.

Just checked in with my dealer... they haven’t received any allocations in the last 60 days. Beginning to wonder when they will stop production.

LA and SF dealerships have received a number of allocations in the last two weeks, unfortunately some dealers in California are only working with local buyers right now. I know some Chicago area dealers are willing to work across the country… I’d hop on the phone and call 2-3 dealers in the larger markets if you’re willing to expand your search 👍.

What do you mean by “Boxster base build”? Base 4 cylinder 2 liter Boxster or GTS 4.0 with limited options? I think most people want the GTS so if your after a 4 cylinder your odds are pretty good. GTS not so good. IMHO

I thought the same thing and then did a search on autrotrader. There are more Spyders for sale across the country than there are Base Boxsters.....significantly more. My search was 2020-2022 Boxster. It returned 3 pages of results....the majority of which were Spyders...granted the majority of those were used.

Interesting. Do you think it’s because people with Spyders are trying to flip them to make a buck in this market?

I do. And it is not just "people". It is mostly dealers....and not necessarily Porsche dealers. Some of the prices were crazy. I saw a Spyder for $169k!!!. And a GTS for $140k!!! I actually came across a Carmine Red GTS at a dealer in my city....new for MSRP. Beautiful car. $108k. Had that car been available when I started this search I may have bought it. When I started I was really searching Boxster GTSs. Carmine Red was in my top 3. Manual is a must and it is so equipped. But I fell head over heels for the Spyder. And then Shark Blue came out and I had to have that so then knew I would be ordering a car.

I agree your Shark Blue Spyder will be awesome! For me I prefer the look of the Spyder, but opted for a Boxster GTS pdk as mine will be a daily driver and I have to put up with traffic, and the Spyder was just a bit over the budget I could justify to the wife (boss)😂

Thanks for the vote of confidence. It is gonna be pretty damn cool!!! It is a little bit unnerving ordering a color I have never seen in real life....especailly when the configurator can get so weird.
