When my 2023 GT3 came into Benicia 13 months ago, I drove out to see the cars rolled off the Glovis Clipper when they started unloading around 10:30 AM
The ship had arrived earlier that morning at around 1:50 AM taking about 2 hours to navigate it's way through the foggy bay from when it entered under the Golden Gate.
It departed that same day (Dec. 23rd, 2023) around 11:30 PM. Didnt even stick around for the Xmas Weekend. Off to South Korea!

I spoke to a worker at the Port the day that my GT3 was rolled off the ship and he told me that it would go indoors.
Once off the ship, the cars go around to the left side of the photo (above) to where the Porsche buildings are, which are out of the view of the photo.

Exactly...here are screenshots of both Porsche VPCs in San Diego and Benicia. The San Diego VPC is right on the water but the Benicia location is a little more inland as you mentioned.

As you can see, the Porsche buildings and parking lot are up on a bit of a hill on the other side of the 780 freeway from the Port.
"X" marks the spot.

You can actually get pretty close to the ship getting off of 780 at the East 5th Street Exit and then making a left onto Military East and turning onto Adams Street.
If I recall correctly, Adams Street is on a bit of a bluff overlooking various parking lots and you get a decent view shown below looking at the rail yard.
Lots of WW-2 buildings in the area like the one encircled that provides a great view!

Just have to cruise around a bit to find a good spot.
I didnt actually see my GT3 roll-off but it was good fun nonetheless!

The Port of Benicia is primarily an auto-carrier port.
The only other business that it does is exporting petroleum coke (the by-product of oil refining) from nearby refineries in Benicia and across the water in Martinez.

NB is now past the entrance to the Gulf of California and is proceeding along the coast of Baja California. Not super important with the pending port delays, but still fun to watch.

My thoughts exactly. Much cheaper and easier to address before it gets to US Customs.

First off, I apologize to kurquhart for hijacking his original Jan delivery thread and started talking about March and now April deliveries.

Thanks again for posting the latest schedule! I suspected Viking Emerald was going to flake when I saw it headed towards Belgium this past Sunday instead of a scheduled 02/06 visit at Emden. This was reinforced when I received “expected” dates from my sales rep from their internal tracking system and it now showed April delivery date instead of the planned March.

What’s worrisome is that the new April dates on the Glovis schedule still has the footnote of “subject to volume situation” for San Diego and Benicia. March delivery already got scrapped for the west coast so it would suck (to put it politely) if Porsche skipped April too (!). I sincerely hope the reason for the footnote is that it’s either Cosmos OR the Companion subject to volume - not both. If it is the Companion that ends up sailing though, SoCal would have missed out deliveries in March and April.

There’s definitely no excuse for Porsche now to not replace the chip / unit while west coast cars sit in Emden for a month plus. They should sail right through once they land in Benicia in April. Or so I hope.

Exactly!
They make the Southern Pacific locomotive in the railyard look like a toy.

Best of luck to everyone getting their cars in April after the rainy season is finished.

Last year at this time with all of the storms my car spent a lot of time inside the garage on a CTEK charger and it was down in Fremont at Premier for its PPF appointment as well.
With all of the loose sand and gravel on the roads, it was nail-biting time just getting my car down to Premier for it's 10 days in their PPF shop. Got hit with a decent amount of sand spray on 680 enroute.

Even got 2 rock chips on the passenger side of my windshield (somewhere down around Pleasanton) with what seemed like no one around me in the right lane. Premier did a great job buffing out the "spray" on the front end and rear quarter panels and doing their paint correction before laying on the PPF. - - - But still, it was nerve-racking just driving down there in the dark at 5:00 am (trying to avoid traffic) and getting hit with sand/rock spray on 680. The freeway was smooth sailing until I hit San Ramon, where it seemed like every "work" truck got on the freeway in front of me. - - - I know, first world problems.

No problem at all; it wasn't meant to be exclusive. just optimistic.

Edit: mod helped me by removing the word "Jan" from the thread title.

Can you please help me understand the above, my car is currently in Emden and the destination is the West Coast (San Diago). Does that mean my only onboarding option is next month?
