I guess I was a little optimistic putting 'Jan 2024' in the title of this thread...

My SA told me the exact same thing. My 992 arrived at the San Diego port mid January and was told that there is a chip that needs to be replaced on the ECU and ETA to reach the dealer is now mid-April. This affects all new Porsches.

If that’s the case, then no more new 911s and presumably few other models from Porsche can be sold in the US for at least 4 months (mid Dec - mid April). That’s 1/3 year!

Question is what cars exactly.
A Carrera is quite a bit different than a GT3 RS, wonder if it’s ALL 911 or just certain models.
Edit: All cars including the 3RS, no cars until end of March, early April

Oh man, that’s disappointing news. They need to rework the ECU of every car? That’s going to be a huge effort.
I am crossing my fingers that the bulletin posted is accurate and 718 models are not affected. I will be the guinea pig and update the thread when I have info.
I am planning to swing by the Benicia holding yard tomorrow with my zoom lens and see what I can see. Anyone else have a car there that I should look out for?

One would think that the update can be done at the factory...
Or hope anyway.

My 3RS journey has been filled with so many delays it’s crazy, original delivery was supposed to be November. Nothing happened, pushed back to end of December, but sure enough nothing. Then it was supposed to be a February delivery and now middle of April.
I can’t imagine the logistical headache of swapping a chip for so many cars including the Cayenne, easily going to be 2000+ cars. I wonder how they determine which ones to work on first? Is it based on port arrival? Do GT products have priority? Complete random?

I'm praying to the Zuffenhausen gods that the supplier has already started issuing the replacement parts for those cars that are not yet built. I am still scheduled for a late Feb start of production.

Data point: my 718 was delivered today, it was in Benicia for 7 days total. This is consistent with the bulletin posted by @zanary , it seems that the 718 is not affected by this hold.
I'm sorry for the trouble you guys are experiencing, it is going to be an enormous undertaking to rework all of these vehicles. Fingers crossed for a speedy resolution.
