Taycan Turbo vs. Lucid Air Grand Touring

At least for the pre Highland Model Y the ride quality is not great terrible, jarring, and worse than literally any car I've driven, including my tracked out GT3RS as far as chassis compliance, and the road noise is excessive worse than a jeep wrangler with 36" mud tires.

Did you guys see this:

A staggering accomplishment for a 4 door sedan.
Personally I love the look of the Lucid Air, (well except for the fact that you can’t get a uniform colour for the seats F & R), I just think that releasing the most expensive versions first, along with the early software issues, was a major mistake and impediment to sales. The company has an assembly plant running in Saudi Arabia now and with the backing of the Saudis, it’s doubtful that the company will fail I’d think. The release of the Gravity will be the true test as to the company’s ability to survive. It’s a shame it wasn’t released first.

Certainly very impressive performance, and most reassuring to knowing that you could blow anything on the street, back to the horse and buggy era. …but for $250K, it also better make me want to embrace and fondle it like it was my new mistress. IMO, it simply doesn’t do that.
But hope they can develop a loyal following in the years to come.

It did, but at the time Tesla had basically the whole market to themselves; not so much today.
I almost tried a used Lucid as the pricing was fantastic. Unfortunately I am a long way away from a service centre, so sanity won out!

The good news for Lucid is they have friends with deep pockets.

I’ve seen some really ugly lucid and I’ve seen some very nice looking lucid. Really depends on the color the pearl white with the all black glass top is actually quite stunning that my neighbor has. Great range and performance. Interior is quite well appointed and the rear seats are huge.

Yeah the 18 month lease deal on lucid seems crazy... might be a good way to dip my toes in the water on the electric front with a short term commitment.
I've never done a lease so I feel ignorant on them. At a high level, it looks like id be better off getting the low mileage lease and paying the $0.25 per mile charge, than the higher mileage lease. Am I missing something?

i can't speak from experience though...I've only ever rented a tesla model x once on Turo, and it was clearly someone beater, so I still reserve judgment on quality

Toyota still rules.

But what doesn’t jive is the latest (Nov 2023) CR ranking of ICE and EV’s, the CR headline: “EV’s have 79% more reliability problems than ICE cars”. Teslas are in the middle of CR’s reliability ranking. Not anywhere near the top.

Tesla reliability = ***
tesla ownership satisfaction = extraordinary
For a lot of cars, they’re similar. But not for Tesla’s customers. I know multiple people who said the model X was the worst least reliable car they ever owned and their favorite, yes, of course they’re buying another.
