Both black Cayman R, PDK, sofas, one has 55k miles, one has 27k miles. I wonder if there will be some cross cannibalization which will keep the prices low. They do not seem to be generating a lot of traffic, I imagine they will both sell quite low.

IMO least desirable color and spec. One way of looking at it is they're a bargain if what you want is the driving experience. I'd go for the higher mileage one, it's still no real wear and will go much cheaper.

The 55,000 mile car went for $59K plus the BAT fee, sheesh. In 2019, a guy I know from PCA track days got a black/silver trim R without buckets but with a 6sp, about 25,000 miles, for mid-40s.

Of course! Everything was “cheap” in 2019. If only we had a time machine! For $59K, this actually isn’t too bad in this market. If Porsche does axe the flat 6 Caymans in the future, a potential bargain.

From what Porsche is saying in the Press, it's a "when" not an if. and it is looking like the when will be a 2025 launch for an "all electric" Cayman.

Yep ^^^ that's correct... it'll be exclusively electric.

“We are stepping up our electric offensive with another model,” Porsche boss Oliver Blume said this week. “By the middle of the decade, we want to offer our mid-engine 718 sports car exclusively in an all-electric form.”

I picked up mine in May 2020 (during the Covid market selloff) for $41k + about $4k in auction fees and transport. 6-speed w/ 42k miles, carbon buckets, PSE, Sport Chrono Plus, etc. Similar cars had been selling the year prior in the mid-$50k's so I hit it just right in the dip before the current uptrend. Had been eyeing them for about 6 months so the patience literally paid off!

The BaT one with 55k miles sold for $59k + fees. The PcarMkt one has half the mileage but didn't meet reserve, only made it up to $52k ...that would be an absolutely great buy for someone looking for a PDK driver. Even dealers were bidding at those prices!

Seems kind of low for both, but I think that's due to the PDK and sofas.

Yes, I'd say mostly due to PDK. It's a great transmission, not saying it isn't, but the cars that seem to bring the most are manuals. The buckets would be less of an issue for me since you can always find them and add them later. Just keep in mind that buckets are now NLA unless you're willing to buy the 991 buckets and do the necessary modifications to them.

It could also be that the market is weakening. The stonk market isn't exactly going gangbusters anymore. Interest rates are rising. Inflation is out of control. The 5->10 yield curve is inverted. Energy prices are in "recession imminent" zone. Precious metals (the non Porsche kind) are looking better by the day. Perhaps the mid tier collector car market is getting torpedo'ed as things get strained?

Just reinforces my opinion that I would not sell my car on PCAR, but a buyer should absolutely shop there if they are looking for a deal. It did not help the sellers that two very similar CR pop up at the same time. Financial market environment is also not as promising as it was even 2 months ago and these cars popped up during a correction due to huge global turmoil. Overall, bad timing for the sellers. The BAT winner got a good deal and I hope they join us here!

thanks for posting! This will be a great test of the market. We are pretty darn close to spring in most of the country and she is a well spec’d Spyder under 10k miles and on BAT.

Unrelated, does anyone know if this topic thread can be split? It’s so long it takes forever to scroll down to the bottom!
