The Porsche Roof Transport System is INCREDIBLE!
I’ve used all sorts of roof racks and the Porsche example is by far the best engineered & executed example.
What’s most impressive is the unique mounting points. All 991’s have built-in swivel mounts underneath the weather stripping. These mate directl with the roof transport system so that there’s no contact with the paint.
Once you’ve set it up, uninstalling & reinstalling takes less than 10 minutes. Brilliantly effective!

Interested in knowing this as well. Does it just fit back into the railing with some finger pressure after you've removed the bike rack or is it gone forever?

Following. I used the searsucker for a 1200 mile trip 2 weeks ago and it worked great. It comes off in 10 secs and on in about 2 minutes. I like the look of the OEM but sounds like a bit of a chore.
I also thought the OEM rack mount could only be ordered with a new build. I guess I got that impression because it was listed as an option on the configurator.

I have the rack on my 2018 4S and I agree, the rack is so precise not touching the paint. I love it. When the towers are removed and the metal feet are stowed back in the gutter, the weather stripping has an indented tab on the bottom side, that literally pops the strip back into place. Can't tell it was ever messed with.
When the rack towers are on, the weatherstrip stores vertically in the tower, not in the way of any bike racks going on or off.

As stated above, the weather stripping snaps back in place so that you can never tell that it's been touched.

Trek makes some good bikes, but there are more, er, Porsche-like, bikes out there!
