You've opened a can o worms. :-) But, thanks for sharing -- I am looking for a quick and easy rack solution.

So, is there a permanent adapter that lives inside the gutter then? Or are those metal stanchions clipped in and out, as you attach or remove the cross bars?

Ok, not the greatest video... But, at 35 sec I see the topic of the two metal items that swivel up into position.

I was happy not to have a rattling sunroof in this car - would I now have rattling roof transport attachments inside the gutter?

[Edit: Are these connection points retro-fitted? Or factory fitted?]

A Rhino rack attaches quite nice to the bars.

Used to carry track tires that dont fit inside the car
Don't they fit in the Honda Fit?

That's like saying once Ford, always Ford.

Trek makes some good bikes, but there are more, er, Porsche-like, bikes out there!
But Porsche bicycles cost $8,300.

They are already factory fitted in your 911. If you are curious, you can peel back the weather stripping and see. Check your users manual for instructions. You won't have the special Roof Transport tool that comes with the system, but somethin like a plastic fork should work.

Can't get any and quicker or easier imho! The metal stanchions live in the roof of most 911 coupes (not sure about GT series cars).

True, which is why I also have a Pinarello F10 and a couple custom Seven's

Good eye - it's actually an Emonda SLR!

Here’s a picture of the tool and the start of the chapter in the manual.

Lol. This is the car with the racks off. To change over I just swap fobs, takes about 5s but the price tag is a litle higher than the other options out there for racks.

yep,

shredded a 20" on a sunday at chuckwalla in the middle of the desert once and decided I want a way home on longer trips.

Compact spare kit from 997. Fits on front wheel. ( move regular front to back if needed there).
