Pulled out the cheap code alarm and a bunch of wires connected to nothing. Connected the radio head unit (amp still disconnected), turned the key, and the display lit up when the gauge pods lit up. Turned the key one more click and the car started right up (was a little worried I'd removed something that would cause a no-start). Returned a few wires that had been altered, spliced, or piggybacked to like factory....glad it all worked. Tomorrow I can finally replace the guts in the HVAC center comb flap and footwell flap actuators.

Perhaps not a big deal to some, but my dh and I measured the hoses that still need replaced and removed the TB covers. I was happy like a fat kid getting birthday cake to find the TB gears are steel instead of coated alloy (and square tooth, since I already have a square belt)!
Also very pleased to find there are no oil leaks at the cam seals.
Getting my next parts order ready, and it will be an inexpensive one. BONUS.

In what is 99% overkill, I've prepped my windshield washer reservoir for reinstallation.

Did the Simple Green w/ rocks tip from Stan for the inside, and painted the exterior with red plastic paint since it was so discolored from rust and grime.

Ideally, I'll never have to look at it again, but if I do - at least it'll be mostly pleasing to the eye.

Who needs rust on something you'll see once every 5 years when you can have red paint!

Possibly found the source of my auto tranny not working properly. Broken spring found in the pan. Ordered a new filter and gasket, and will change fluids and spring. To be continued......

I did a complete overhaul. All new fluids; oil, tranny, coolant, power steering & brake. New tires, found my power steering hose was leaking and replaced it. Apparently it had a small hole and was sucking air in without leaking for a long time but finally let go. Steering is 100% improved. Then I cleaned the underside which is just as clean as its top side.

Washed it and took it for a long drive. She drove like a new car and got all sorts of attention.

Default Added some support brackets to the door panel.

Made these support brackets up at work. The two bottom bolting areas of this panel were broken, drivers side, so I added these brackets.

Really stiffen up the door panel. You can clearly see the crack in this picture.

These brackets and the pop-rivets will not be visible.

Brian.

Got tired of looking at old split and flaking heat shrink wrap on spade connectors around the engine compartment. Removed the crumbling old stuff and applied Deoxit to the connectors. Installed the new heat shrink wrap to connectors. The small details can make a huge difference.

Is that timing belt tension?

All good after 1/4 turn?

I took my car out for a spin. It occurred to me that perhaps after the intake refresh, my cruise control might work. I didn't know exactly how to operate it, moved the lever around randomly, and it kicked in!

Seems not to kick in every time, or immediately, so perhaps nothing has changed.

Yeah, a few 6k revs, and a quick flogging up the road, I couldn't make it come back on.
I was very limited on time Saturday, I really wanted to clean the crud off while I was in there.
The belt was tracking true, and everything else appeared fine.

Great day to drive the shark to work - sunny but cool weather. It got the spot of honor in the garage and jealous looks from its younger siblings.

I took the engine out of my 81 928 (for headgaskets)

and then started to tear down.

I did all this in one day, by myself.
