the amount of money was predicted to be very minimal. this tax is for appearance to fuel the woke. Conservatives would ditch it in a second if not sizeable dollars.
just thinking about our idiot leader makes me shake my head...he really has singlehandedly destroyed out country IMO. and he is an international joke and made our Country that now...very depressing...time to watch some football and turkey.

I would hope so.

But there are other government officies that would need to be scrapped and this is just a drop in the bucket simply because they are 100% useless: CRTC, Conflict of Interest & Ethics Commission, Auditor General, Governor General and the list is endless. But people love to build empires because it makes them feel important.

this is from spring but lux tax will cost jobs and GDP to raise minimal tax dollars. seems counter intuitive, but for the woke folks

Couldn't get a 4RS build, but I see so many dealers and brokers with them available at $100k markup..... shocking <insert sarcasm here>
They can keep their lux tax.. I won't be contributing to it at all.. I'll be more than happy to by used and can wait until the dust settles from the covid lockdown / FOMO bubble.

Am on a waiting list for GTS 4.0 but starting to think the same way. Seeing more and more used coming on the market. Will wait for prices to come down.

Onami .... Your history with the 993 cars is certainly an interesting one.

burns me up every time I read about it. Was largely out of mind for some time.

looks like they updated the page. Can u believe keychains and delivery fuel and PDI and other incidentals are to be included? Craziness. Like they’ve gone through the trouble to list floor mats, keychains and sunshades as taxable items. Really trying to increase revenue from this stream.

I think there is a difference from the UK examples however. Luxury ax. This will cause used cars to be artificially higher compared to a new car which has the luxury tax levied. Prices will drop no doubt but I do not expect it to be as drastic as the video.

With the luxury tax, high interest rates, and the Libs messing up the economy, it will be a very interesting time next year for all these dealers as post pandemic supply catches up. Porsche discounting the luxury tax on Taycans is just the beginning. I think we will see discounts on some models in the future, especially the high volume models like Macans and Cayennes. I wonder about the difference in sales next year due to the luxury tax. I for one will not pay it when my Tacan lease expires, I most likely will get a sub 100K vehicle like a Tesla 3 or Bronco. As many economists predicted, people will make different choices to avoid tax, and this tax will hit Porsche Canada hard.

Yeah, I dropped off my Macan for service this morning at Downtown. While waiting for the SA, I walked over to the shiny new 992 Turbo S on the showroom floor with a sticker price of $315K and then went back and sat down without even doing a further inspection of the car, scanning the option sheet, etc. That has not happened to me before...

Someone posted a comment last week about a 992 C4S approaching "a quarter million dollars". Hearing it put that way makes the current prices sound even crazier!!!
