These tyre importers in NZ need to wake the hell up. They are dillusional thinking that we wont import them from other countries.
It really hacks me off how we have to pay so much more for the same thing.
I will never buy tyres here again. Tire rack are professional and cheap.
Mine landed in under a week. Ordered on a Thursday here and on the car literally the following Friday.
NZ Customs held them up for two days, so it may well have been even quicker.

John, $450NZ is what it cost me as well. All up it was $2650 landed, with gst.
Best price here was $3980.00.

No brainer.

It's not only tyres, my wife just picked up some pots she was about to buy on our return. NZ price is $900, and she just paid $300 for the same ones at a retail store in Jakarta. We try to support NZ where possible but if there's no value add then price is king.

993man - can you post the contact of the person you are dealing with. I have been trying to find out if Bridgestone have a tire in stock and no Bridgestone agent / company will respond.............

I've dealt with Walt (walt@tirerack.com) for my two orders.

I have got a response from Racing Ray - he can do the 16 Dec. His cost is $500 for the day.

This is one-on-one where Ray sits in the passenger seat for a 15min secession and tells you where to point the car, hit the gas and brake.

If there are 4-5 of us it works out at $100-125 each. I would highly recommend this as he will take 2-3 seconds off your lap time as he did with me the first time I used him.

I am happy for 2 slots as I'm trying to hunt another second. Are there any other takers?

HDs 16 Dec:
Just waiting for confirmation from Sean on whether Steve R is in with some extra numbers. If everyone emails Tony at Playday (PM me if you need the email address) to say you're a starter with the Porsche group on the 16th and we'll sort out the amount with him once numbers are finalised. We may need to take some others in the group if we can't get 8. Hope this is OK with everyone. Now is the time to bang out if you previously committed. Ray Williams comes highly recommended so get back to kiwi911 if you're keen on a session with him.

I'm starting to feel a bit like these guys...

Nigel has confirmed so I think that makes 7 plus whatever Steve R can muster. Email for Tony is:
playday at playday on track dot co dot nz - no spaces. Ask to book you in for the Porsche group that Jason is trying to muster. Please post here when you've emailed Tony (today if at all possible) so we can figure numbers etc.

Thanks Jason, I've e-mailed Tony. I also e-mailed 3 Porsche people who I thought might have been interested: two already have plans for that day and one is interested but currently trying to sell his Porsche and buy another (may be a late starter but I wouldn't hold your breath).

I might be interested in a session with Ray, depending on what the final cost of the day turns out to be. I've had him in the car a couple of times before and I can confirm that he's very helpful.

Didn't notice that - but cool! Will have to stay for the double and post 964.

Just a thought if numbers don't stack up - we could enrol in the prestige group. Last twilight there were only 5 in that group plus me and certainly no drifting. Guys that know how to drive and look after their cars.

$240 I think for that option
