Given up posting on FB, too many crazies.

Have been driving lots but no cars atm

SC is in T.A. for service, authority card etc, I have fitted road oriented tyres and raised the ride height, been using it for Sunday road drives, but plan on taking it to Puke next week if anyone is interested.

GT3: Started consuming oil/smoking, so sitting at Giltraps with the engine removed, compression was down in two cylinders, results are with Porsche Germany, awaiting weather it's a new engine or warranty repair.

996 CUP: In T.A for Engine & Gearbox rebuild. Ordered 30k+ of bits overseas awaiting arrival, lightweight bonnet, bumper, splitters, extra set of wheels, uprated axle kit, engine mount plate, power steering pump etc, should be a whopping customs bill will be well over 100k thrown away after 1 year, if I was more handy I would have saved alot of money.

Its tested my resolve, brought it cheap, penny wise pound foolish. Nearly sold it but ended up just shutting my eyes and doubling down (was too far underwater anyway), not much spend making it look pretty, has done suspension etc prior so will hopefully get a good run out of it soon.

My sweet spot is the RSG stuff, road trip with mates, track days thrown in, drive home with a smile, the Cup will likely be tucked away and driven a few times per year, I don't have required passion to devote weekends to racing atm

So Puke next week in the 200hp club, then Taupo 30th November in the GT3 (provided I get it back), would be good to get a few more along for either.

Great to read some posts here. Currently have a 997.2 PDK and am pondering selling it to go back to having an aircolled 911.

Hi Ranfurly, I see a 500SL in your avatar, have wanted one for a while. How do you like it as a cruiser?

Hi Pel in short love it! I use it pretty much as my daily driver to work which is about 60 kms a day. It is a CIS-e engine which goes well. I have the hard top off it now with the rule of having the soft top down unless it is actually raining. I think The R129 is under rated probably because so many were made and is more recent to the R107 before it seems to have captured buyers and $. I also have a 1991 928S4 which makes an interesting comparison to the 500SL. 928 definitely more focused as a sports GT vs the SL is more GT but is still very capable and handles well.

Mate, that Cup Car has really bitten. Hope that it comes out running perfectly at the end of all this and you get some fun out of it.

Agree on the sweet spot - I wish I had more time and disposable income to throw at hooning but don’t, so have taken a bit of a hiatus this year. SITT in March will be my only track event this summer I suspect. Will get a few road trips in however, and took my car to Wellington for the long weekend which was great fun.

Good point!! Yuka organised that as a 40th birthday gift. She’s a keeper for sure.
