Thanks mate. I looked it up and saw that. Works better for me Sunday. Will defiantly be there.

No, my car was carving back roads South of Auckland most of yesterday then used as general transport for a BBQ with friends in PT Chev.

If anyone here has Flexi time at work and wants to do a mid week Pirongia drive return in the next week let me know. We also have the track day next week on 17th.

Nine months after ordering and paying my deposit the Focus RS is finally delivered to Central Ford Taupo. Needs a PPI and some film applied. Hopefully I can fly down and pick it up next week. One upside of the long wait is that this is the first MY2017 car in NZ, it has the updated Sync 3 head unit with Apple carplay and Android and also has the revised head design and a number of other running improvements including the latest RDU software etc. It really has tested my patience however...

That's a horrendously long wait for a mass produced car. Did they give any reason for it?

Apple CarPlay is very good. The only downside is having to use Apple Maps instead of Google. I liked it so much (on the rental car I had over Xmas/NY) I considered replacing the PCM in the Turbo.

Yeah. The RS is relatively low volume. Most punters in U.K. Been waiting 9-12 month! Nz had one shipment June 2016 for 55 units, my shipment Feb 2017 is 15 units and the third and last shipment arrives Nov 2017. They put the price up 5% a few moths back effective 3rd shipment.

Jos Macan S is 4-5 month wait list on factory - was ordered late Oct 2016 and gets built next week. Alfa Giulia QV is 4 month wait.

What makes it worse down under is add 8 weeks for shipping, compliance and delivery etc

Seems 6-9 months wait list is standard on anything popular. In U.K. Dealers ask 5-10% over for a new model in their yard as a result...

Im not sure it can. Its an entirely new system (i.e. it also communicates other functions of the car so is an integral part of the electronic system). That said Im sure if you bought a PCM 4.0 head unit someone could figure out a way of getting it all working.

Im really enjoying Motor Trend reviews these days. They have the depth and passion I dont usually see in alot of US based journalism. Evo has lost its edge with a number of key personnel recently leaving. Their COTY 2016 was rather meh IMO.

PCM retrofits are very complex. If it's for a 997 I'd suggest it can't work. There are products out there that allow for integration of an after market unit, which is your best bet for a 997, IMO. Unsure about options for a 9x1.

Didn't realise the Focus RS volumes were so low. Surprised to be honest. Know if it's based on ordered vehicles or limited by Ford themselves?

It sure does. Coincidentally I have been watching that car, have a soft spot for suds and sprints. The guy who bought my Pug has a sprint QV identical to the one I had and rust free but not willing to part with it yet.

I hope that comes through for you Dave. They say you can't be a true car guy till you own an Alfa. I'm not sure what that means but I guess I'll know in a few months. In the meantime I will continue to be lonely around here lol!

I think it's a production limit set by Ford. They are made only in Germany at the Solaris plant so that may have something to do with it. I understand around 14000 are to be built, doesn't sound like a small number but it's now available in USA so I think that makes a difference. By way of comparison PAG have build around 4000 x 991 GT3 RS, so I guess that gives some perspective. 20 x RS sold new in NZ and 70 x Focus RS (to date)...

I had a left hooker '77 Sud and my father had an '82 Sud. I think mine was only 1,300cc. Still, when it came on cam it felt powerful. I will have room on the pad when BB2 goes......
