RA - Gt group, another first lap wreck

That is a great place to start, but I would think that it would be good to do more than just meet. I would think that there should be dialogue about the kind of on track culture the Cup Car racers want to have as a group.
If the group did that, there would be more than a 13/13 rule guiding their on track behavior.

Peter,
Thanks for the kind words. I was very happy this weekend. I learned a bunch. I was unable to practice Friday, so Sat qually was first time I'd ever driven on the track. It was also the first time to sit in the car. I would have liked to have had some wets too!
I look forward to racing with everyone again.
I'm with you. Time to look forward.

First time on this track, first time in this car, it's pissing rain and I have to go quali on old street tires in the wrong sizes - what's wrong with that?

With the amount I've been acruited over the past 2yrs ...all except 1 event...I've had alot of chances to meet the other drivers some get out and talk others don't ....I've really gained alot from talking especially when I need a spare part but also to get vids; pointers on their home track; where the good food and booze are
I really like the meeting idea but I know its hard especially when work is needed on a car
It would be best done with quality or practice time so your talking to guys you'll likely be racing with or next to vs the entire field like 80+ at sebring

So am I to understand then thy Andrew went and turned Klaus in for the helmet tap?
Just so everyone I race against understands...no I did not feel any car to car contact, yes that was already there....all cups need to be white with a couple of dents and some black marks here and there to start with...

Pre-race mandatory get-together is a great idea. Something that NASA does before each race. Group leaders (GTS, American Iron, etc) get an opportunity to relay any specific messages/themes pertinent to their group and address perhaps individual concerns of drivers, that necessarily could not all be addressed at the one main drivers' meeting. Also, seems to break down some of the communication barriers and allows drivers and opportunity to air any discontent (before they take it out on track). Granted, every single PCA class doesn't need it's own group leader, but perhaps some reasonable grouping of similar classes would work. Also provides an opportunity for group advocacy, let's say for instance the group wants to push for a split start.

Funny about white cars. They don't show much! Saved my a$$ many times!

Got an email from a friend, he is perhaps not as politically correct as most but parts are poignant, myself being a paid up member of the knucklehead club...
"Wow, after reading all 146 posts I’m so glad I was home by then.
I don’t know what the answer is but I have a lot of experience is very fast cars and on any given day I can be great or a knucklehead.
The guys the drive slow cars have no business preaching to the fast guys."
All that being said, if in any group you see unsafe or over aggressive stuff. Get your film, go to the steward, share your concerns and let them handle it.
They do a great job.

So I can just run out and buy the next RSR, screw up all over the place and not expect to hear a word from veterans, those who drive lowly E stock cars, GT4 cars and, God help us, a mere 6Cup?

Attitudes like this only fuel some of the perceptions about the high powered cars' drivers, rightly or wrongly, and are most unhelpful.
