Default RA - Gt group, another first lap wreck

Don't know the details but do know Klaus V's GT3R sustained major damage (tub) along with three others.

Edit to add: Looks like the #69 car just assed up and took them out. Same old story.

Wow. I figured it was bad when race monitor showed 2nd lap at 30 minutes. No 69 car is an experienced club racer though.

Merely asking if anybody knew the story.

No point needs to be made here.

Your "Edit to add" kinda infers something. Mistakes happen. I have no dog in this fight but really hate when people assume things.

Maybe you can elaborate on the "Same old story"??? Are you referring to the #69 car? Or to Cup drivers being asshats? Maybe we should wait until things get sorted and hear from the drivers involved as well as experience Club Racers.

Fair enough. I guess we just differ on how we approach these incidents. If I was ever so inclined to post about someone's misfortune in an on track incident, my version would probably be something along the lines of: "unfortunate accident at RA. Hope everyone involved is ok. Anyone know what actually happened?". Just something my parents instilled in me from a very young age. Couth, etiquette, whatever....

It's hard to tell from that video but I don't see any counter steer going on there. Is it possible he had a mechanical that led to that?

It is difficult to tell, but I think I see counter-steer. I'm guessing left rear was on curbing, and got loose when he got on the gas. Bummer for Klaus and the others.

There were 5 cars involved. Happened as the green flag dropped. Those 2 went to inside and 3 others, trying to avoid the incident, went into the wall on the outside. I did not see it when it happened. I came to the wall after hearing the announcer say "oh ****!" over the PA. One thing is certain, the car on the outside was off the dry racing line and on the damp side of the track. It was a big wreck. I think the driver of the 69 car went to the hospital. Neither of the 2 cars in the video suffered the worst damage, but they were hurt badly.

We should all wait to hear from those involved before jumping to conclusions. Fault is obvious, but details from those involved is missing.

the 69 driver is a pretty competent, respectful driver. that car turns quick to the inside while the rear stays planted. might have been cold tires on a damp cold day and it cracked loose, or curbing..but it also looks like maybe something broke.
weather like today, short track, maybe pca should have had a second formation lap.

that sucks big time. a couple of 400+$K cup cars eating it lap 1. hope everyone was ok and the damage isnt too bad.

Maybe it's clearer to you guys but that looks very innocuous from the brief video. Also the results being so bad as to someone off to hospital (hopefully just precautionary) and cars wrecked. Others must have come in from behind at greater speed because this just doesn't look very bad to me?? Seemed a pretty minor mistake created a domino effect.
