Nitto NT01 review...
Tried a set of full tred NT01's on Sunday. First session slightly wet track. Tires VERY greasy for about ~6 laps, then settled down. Second session dry track, they felt better than full tread RA1's but worse than shaved RA1's. Seemed to heat up a lot faster than RA1's (as I had been told to expect), possibly due to being full tread. Third session dry track, significantly warmer ambient temp, I forgot to let some air out. They got way hot after ~4 laps and started to aggressively go away.

THere are countless reviews on this tire. What car were you driving?

The great thing about them is they seem to be very similar to RA1s and they last. I have ran two enduro races (8hrs and 13 hrs) on them in an E36 and E30. In both cars the left front lasted at least 6 hours straight with some life still in it. The only reason it was taken off was because we had planned at those points to do the tire changes. The grip of the tires even though full tread was always the same. You could predictably tell when you had driven too hard on them. Back off for a few laps the grip would come back. Then go right back to beating on the tires. The other tires on both cars were just fine with lots of life left in them. Overall I think they are great tires. They aren't the fastest, they are quick, and they last for a long time.

I don't have any data but I think they are faster by just a little bit. It appears the Nittos have less individual tread blocks than the RA1s do so they are less likely to squirm when at full tread. This and the sidewall is a little bit stiffer than the RA1s. These two features are what makes them slightly faster out of the box and for the long haul. The other characteristics are very similar to the RA1s

Also IIRC the RA1 full-tread is 8/32", whereas the NT01 full-tread is 6/32".

agreed...i'd say there as fast or a little faster than ra1's...i definitely like them better than full depth 888's

Good data, Seth & Dave. I bought them to try as DE tires, obviously. I suspect that my first session experience was due to low temps & a wet track.

Nittos > RA1 > R888 (not a fan at all of the 888)
Dave if your tires started to skirm after 6 laps your pressures might have been too high. I've been at Willow Spring for 25-30 min. sessions at 100 plus degrees with consistant feedback.
