agreed...i'd say there as fast or a little faster than ra1's...i definitely like them better than full depth 888's
I thought the Nitto was made by Toyo same as the R888??

I've raced on them in my e36 and ran them on my gt3. I run shaved RA-1s normally and the nittos are as close to RA-1s without being the same tire. Agreed on the less block squirm but not completely gone. Per Nitto they need about 2lbs less then the RA-1s due to the stiffer sidewall. Naturally not the same level of grip as the hooters but much better bang for the buck, I've gotten 2 race weekends out of them!

On the e36 I can't say they're faster then shaved RA-1s without looking at the data but pretty damn close. I really want to try them shaved as I used to shave the RA-1s to 4/32nds can take many heat cycles like the old standard

On the GT3 however, the 315s gave me more understeer then the 305 width RA-1s. at the time my car was stockish and i couldn't just click it away on the motons so i had to change the rear sway one hole. No big deal but annoying. I ran them full tread and noticed a weird wear pattern after a day on the track but again the car was stock and the alignment was perpetually off. I would buy them again once my beloved RA-1s get discontinued. I don't feel them being as fast as a shaved RA-1. I wish i had data to compare, unfortunately i just have my *** and my memory.

My 2 cents.

completely different level of tire...the nittos and toyos are slower, longer lasting tires...the bfg's (and hoosiers and hankook z214's) are much faster tires...

Toyo owns Nitto.

Dave White is right. The Hankooks ROCK (as he said they would) but are a bit much $$$ wise for DE use on a regular basis, hence my experiment with another choice.

Funny, that's exactly the opposite of what I expected. I haven't driven the Nitto NT01 but expected them to be slower just based on the price.

bingo

D*MN them for not making a 285 / 295 - 30 X 18 to go with their 235 - 40 X 18for us WB drivers.
315's are too big for my application

Nittos really do not work over 40psi on 3300lb GT3. I have never gotten them shaved but 3-4 HC takes care of that. They let you know when they will break loose.

They talk to you when about to break loose and controllable once they do. If the audio was any good on this video you could hear what I am talking about. This is with maybe 3 or so HCs on them and a little too much psi

I found even 40 to be too high. I had never run RA-1's, but was told by the guys that ran them to try 40 hot (since the Nitto is supposed to be the same tire). I was not impressed with them for the first few sessions, so I started lowering the pressure and found 35-36 to be a lot better. For the money, they are a good tire.

I found the max PSI on 3200 # GT3 was 38. ANYTHING over that and the car behaved completely different. 33-36 seems to be the sweet spot.
