Possible Glen 2009 Race Format
#76
The fact that a tremendous amount of this thread has devolved into how to make the 4 sprint races more exciting (inverting starting order, only invert top 10 racers, can't use 5th gear on first two laps, etc.)indicates that the four sprint race weekend does not sound that appealing.
Keep the Enduro!
The reasons have been well stated and I won't repeat them here.

I think those that want the sprint races are hard on their cars and know that they can't finish an enduro.
In seriousness, an enduro race is different than a sprint race. Once you start catching up to lapped traffic (or the leaders start lapping you), the competitor that can use traffic to their advantage has a huge advantage. You have many more opportunities to look ahead and start trying to plan passes so that they benefit you the most. These situations rarely occur in sprint races.
Furthermore, pit strategy becomes very important during an enduro. When do you decide to pit, how good can you time the pit length, how fast do you get back up to speed after the pit stop? A wise and experienced competitor can gain a huge advantage.
In my mind, an enduro is more of a thinking man's race, whereas a sprint race is more about pure speed.
I'd hate to give up the enduro and replace them with 2 more sprint races.

The more I think about it, the more I'm shocked that so many people would prefer to give up the enduro in favor of sprints.
Hell, what about 1 sprint and 2 enduros??!! Or a 30 minute race, a 60 minute race, and a 90 minute race??

I thoroughly enjoy and look forward to the enduro. However, refueling is an issue for those not attending with an entourage. Although I have been fortunate enough to receive assistance from fellow PCA members I would prefer to not have to rely on the kindness of others when there is usually so much to do during a CR weekend. I would like to see the enduros cut down to 75 minutes, while retaining the 5 minute pit stop. This would negate the need to refuel for most, at least in the stock classes, while not altering the enduro appreciably.

There is always going to be someone that needs to refuel. My old turbo could go ~48-50 mins on a tank. Lets not dumb everything down to the least common denominator. If you don't like refueling, buy a bigger fuel cell.

Fred, am I the guy holding the bottle (of L'Evangile) in your cartoon?
I say keep the enduro. It's a different race indeed for all the reasons stated. In fact, as I said before, make them LONGER. ALMS, Grand am, etc. races last much longer than 35-40 minute sprints. This, to me, teaches car/tire management, fuel strategy, consistancy and racecraft.
