Look forward to seeing your car at LRP this spring, but I think you're an instructor (Red) and won't be running with (passing) me in Black..

Its not hard to keep up with Scotto...just make sure he's on some really old slicks...then you can watch him going into the weeds down the laces of the boot .

Scotto would still be faster. He just flies at the Glen.

In all frankness, (a) you don't know that, and (b) so? Learn to drive on street tires, bro.

DMD -- stay on streets for the first ~15 days. Buy a good high performance street tire. When you can make them scream in the esses at Watkins Glen, you are ready for Rs. Until then, you ain't.

Scotto on corded rear Yoks (and a screwdriver on the hood) is about the same speed as me in a D class turbo (2:10s). I felt fast until I saw his tires in the pits.

It all comes down to when you registered and how many of these guys that are instructors you can get to sign up! Maybe if you can work something out with a particular instructor and Kevin Adams - dereg@cvrpca.org - (CVR DE registrar) you can come in as a pre-arranged team!

Are you coming to the DE Workshop on Saturday 3/10? I'll buy you a coffee..

Got it Colin! I think the only thing I will be able to make scream at the esses of the Glen is my instructor.... Just kidding guys.......

Boston,
Don't worry about what group you are in. Green will give you some comfort in the beginning.
Blue will have drivers who have driven at many tracks and have many track days under their belts. Use your green and blue times to focus on technique. Get the mechanics down, then you will be more comfortable in the upper groups with faster drivers.
It is a rare instructor who will be interested or promote you simly because you drive fast. Learn HOW to do high performance driving and SPEED will be a natural byproduct of your skills. And you are lee likely to ball you toy.
One thing I've learned, don't let the instructor talk too much (micro manage every move) while you are driving, it can be a distraction.

I will be in D.C., (maybe I will call TD for lunch) on 3/10.
Could you put a good word for me with Kevin or any instructor so I can get in, even though I am "a cocky green"? I will buy you dinner......
