Hi there from Watkins Glen... Borrowing a buddy's laptop as we analyze TraqMate data...
Light rain first session lead to heavier rain for the rest of the morning. Track was surprisingly quick... on PS2s Cleared up after lunch nicely and the track dried out and started to get relatively fast. For me, Turn 1 felt much better / faster with the repaving. Same with the laces except that the braking zone was very slick when wet (meaning, more slick than the rest of the track). The Toe (up hill) was "worse" than I remember it - the concrete was rougher and appeared to me to have some new pattern cut into it. Very slippery / bumpy in the wet and just plain unsettling in the dry.
My first time at The Glen with my 997S - very happy with the results so far. More tomorrow night once I get home.

I'll give you the useless report. Had to work until 6 AM, slept until 8 AM, drove up and arrived at 3:30 PM (torrential rain on the way up, but the Nitto NT-01s were ok with full tread), more work and then a surprisingly good dinner at the Suites (Glen Club still burned down), Guiness at the Seneca Lodge bar (figured out that the guy I've talked to several times is THE Joel Reiser) and bed now to actually DRIVE tomorrow. Forecast is for cloudy and chilly, but dry.

Thanks, Geoffrey. I'm adding this event to my "must do" list.
I looked for you, too, but did not see you. Busy day. I was going to tell you that last year when you told me to stay right a bit longer in in the Esses that I was doubtful, but when I tried it a couple of weeks ago and again today it was better. Good advice. Hope I can get you to ride with me at another event. I learned a lot.
This event I had Bob Turgeon ride with me one session. He pushed me, as I wanted him to, and that was very good for me. Next I need to learn to push myself....
Tomorrow I'm on the Pocono North Course with Riesentoter. Not WGI, but it is my home club.

One suggestion for next year. It seems some of the slower drivers were complaining about the closing speeds from the Cup cars. Maybe you could add a third group and allow the other two to "blend" together. I had no problems and enjoyed it.

Bob, I can tell you that there wasn't much differece in speed between the two groups, and that the closing rates from the faster cars was as much as 50-75mph at times based on my experiences. I thought for the most part, the slower cars, when running in the Cup group, did a good job at pointing people by which helped significantly.
