Default Incident at Lime Rock

this minor incident has caused quite a stir on FB, so I thought I'd put it here and see what you guys think. Apparently, different clubs judge this differently and i'm interested to see what you guys think. It's a NASA event, have a look, who is at fault (not that it matters)?

Looks like a dive bomb to me. If I were the lead car I would have taken a slightly defensive line going into West Bend.

very clear dive bomb, he had no business sticking his nose in there AFTER the turn in point. however, in close racing you need to understand the possibility of cars near you out braking or taking the inside line in a competitive situation. so, in traffic, you need to be aware of dive bombers on turns where they might be stronger or more aggressive. this was avoidable by the lead car by driving narrower or seeing him approach on turn in. certainly the passing car's fault.......... but certanly avoidable by the lead car

Bummer. Unless it's his first lap there, the dive bomber had to know that your lines would intersect. I think tghe pass was a bad idea but it did look like you opened the door and then shut it.

Interesting to see such varied responses - but I suppose it makes sense given the very different rules. Personally, I would like to think I would have left him room and expected him to be inside me. The rules call for it, and the door was wide-open. Just my opinion! That said, I hope it didn't result in a 13. (I think that would have been a bit much). One of the things that we would all benefit to remember: keep both feet in - that likely could have prevented the second hit.

ruling was that it's a racing incident, and I don't think NASA issues 13's. and yes, I think the second tap was avoidable by me if I'd have kept both feet in. I released to catch the car backwards, but I guess that wasn't necessary, and I believe that's where the damage came from (bent control arm).

I'm with VR, racing incident with NASA. I don't see the move as a dive bomb, but as an aggressive pass. Lead car should have left at least 3/4 car width and did not. The passing car should have been willing to put two wheels up on the curve or even grass to avoid contact and did not.

With PCA I would expect the passing car to be at fault.

^^^ This and then you could have let him pass in the Downhill.

If the passing car could've hugged the inside and stayed on that line (don't know if it was possible with that entry speed, that car and that corner) I think you should've left him room, no?

Allways when I see these I ask, why not leave a tiny bit of room on the inside?
I mean if you are clearly ahead, then no but in this case the door was wide open for very long time...

Sorry to hear about your incident Frank.. It's a tough call and looks like it could have been avoided by both. That was a risky pass and the s2k should have been more patient and gone for the pass on on the downhill or main straight. But, in the first vid it does look like you were going to leave a lane open for the passing car which was then closed. Racing incident IMO

On a lighter note, next time be more prepared for when...

Frank- you left him a little more room than I'd expect from you but it was a jerk off pass attempt . NASA is not PCA

Passing cars fault, no overlap, just an aggressive move - boxster had the line.
