A lot of these exotic car dealers can, actually, let them sit for months and months at higher than market prices. If anything, it drives traffic to their site, and showroom, so they're able to sell the higher volume, lower priced cars. It's quite brilliant advertising, to be honest, and eventually, through natural price inflation, the markets do tend to arrive at these higher prices (but not until a long enough time passes).

I highly respect Marshall Goldman, but they don't necessarily set market prices. They hoard, and eventually corner the market, which in turn can set market prices, but check this out:

A total of seven (7) BMW Z8's all listed at (what some might consider crazy) $350k plus prices: http://inventory.mgmsl.com/web/inven...icle_limit=100

Most have sat there for 4 - 6 months, since Marshall began hoarding.

If I was a hoarding type collector, I'd do the same, honestly. Canepa does this too.

I don't necessarily blame them.

I understand and agree - but look how many guys keep posting 500's for a CGT.

If those numbers were anywhere close to reality the same dealers would not / could not take that hit.

CGT market is continuing to rise both in price and demand and someone who can afford 7 can afford 1M vs someone who is a buyer at 500k vs 700k. As you posted the CGT is a great tool for driving traffic

Agreed. If I could get that many CGT's in the mid-$500's, right now, I'd buy them all.

I looked at the Z8 - they have a bad reputation when they hit a bump as in they break. Understand that after all these years the CGT's only issue is the clutch and it wasn't really the clutch inasmuch the clutch operator.

Would not touch a Z8 - saw more than one or two that the factory totaled. Warped frames tend to shake rattle and roll. But I still look at the market and they do it quite often like the 575SA where half the ones they were selling had bad tops.

The five CGT's on e-bay is the equivalent of Goldman - I don't know Canepa but would love to see one of them hoard and hold to shake out the low lying fruit.

I've driven the Z8 and the Alpina Z8 on multiple occasions, including when it first came out (as a potential buyer). It's not the car for me. Not at all.

Russo and Steele just posted the results of their Newport Beach auction held June 5-7 2015 on their website. They are showing a 2005 Black CGT with a sold price of $840,000. Don't know if this figure includes buyers premium or not.

Usually most posted results include the buyer's premium, though cant say for sure here.

I have to disagree on the Z8 because I actually own one. They have an all aluminum chassis and body and over time some had issues with the front 2 strut towers bending. Some say the run flat tires were the cause when hitting a pot hole. Many have changed to softer tires including myself. BMW has a solution called the power package, basically a special strut brace. Anyways, the 400hp e39 M5 engine with a 6 speed manual is what caught my attention besides the beautiful retro desgn that has XKE proportions. A modern rendition of BMW 507 roadsters of the late 1950's. The fit and finish is beyond any BMW I have owned.

The Z8 in my opinion is a great GT car, the sound and power of the M5 motor is more than enough to go with it's good looks. And with the 6 speed manual it is a proper driving experience.

Here's the original Dream Makers listing: http://www.dreammakersautomotive.com...r-convertible/

This car has not set any market price at all. It's just been trading between dealers at higher prices each time, as far as I can tell.

In December 2014, Top Gear Imports passed it to Marshall Goldman for ~$650k. In February 2015, Marshall passed it along to Dream Makers for ~$765k, they listed it at $896k in March, then upped it to $950k in May. Now, as of today (June 2015), it's been passed to CNC for an unknown price, and they've listed it at $1.3m.

This isn't how markets are made. But, then again, with such scarce supply, there's no such thing as a true market.
This is exactly the definition of a bubble with no real buyer

wow if that's a real number then I hate to say but the market has moved up again - if I remember correctly that car had a few thousand miles on it - it wasn't a 300 mile car.

Where are all those CGT's in the $500K range as a few on this board claim? I want one or maybe two. The reality is that they don't exist otherwise same posters would have had bought them already.
