That's the public asking price for a single LaFerrari bought by a flipper from Steve Wynn. Not characteristic of actual sale prices for LaF.

Actual sale private prices are around $3m - $3.5m or so, depending on spec. And that's *very* private sale prices, as Ferrari's 1 year lockup hasn't expired for most people. Once it does, we'll see more on the market, no doubt.

Been observing price hikes with great interest. Do people think these hikes are justified by the collectible quality alone or is it combined with asset price inflation due to the general environment?

I know of 8 different cars for sale, one guy rejected a cheque for $3M... the going price is $3.5-$4Mil atm for all these 8 cars. due to the demand these guys CAN ask these prices.
I've been following the Enzo price hike, from ~$1Mil 3 years ago to a minimum of $2Mil for one. it seems like the only car that stayed reasonably priced for what it is, is the F40 and even that car has hiked up.
I'm not a Ferrari guy, but I think if I was to go the Ferrari way, this would be a very bad time. I was thinking I may be able to swap A brand new CGT Mirage with a 599 Aperta + cash my way... but at $1.7Mil for the Aperta it was not going to happen, which is ridiculous. The Aperta is still a 599, and the Mirage is a "better" class of car being based on a CGT.

you'd think this would take 15 years to happen, but nope... in a few months-1 year it happens. Crazy.

People have said it's a bad time for 2 years while prices continue to rise.

Aperta - GTO engine is a very cool car and the low production adds value.

The dark metallic blue CGT I think is the same colour that Jeremy Clarkson drove on his Top Gear review:

A review, btw, which has to be one of his most favourable top three ever...

And this thread has now racked up 100 pages and the beat goes on...

current market value aside, would you swap a brand new CGT plus $500k with a used 599 Aperta?

No.

Aperta - 599 with a GTO engine and top chopped.

CGT is a bespoke super car.

Ferrari Porsche etc. build these last latest and greatest versions they do not hold a candle IMO to a super car.

And that's exactly why I think their prices are ridiculous. $1.7Mil is just not justified.
