Default Alignment changes for Pirelli?

See the attached alignment settings from Porsche for the Michelin and Pirelli tires. Do you have any real world thoughts on the differences Porsche suggests?

Do you know how Porsche counts holes in the anti-roll bar?

Thanks in advance....

it shows 245/645-18 at $411 but the PCA ones at $450 looks like we are still paying the PCA tariff. You would think they would negotiate a deal since its a spec class. Hmmm I guess membership does have its privileges- you pay more

Steve, would you like some "whine" with that Italian Cheese? I've already tried it..... A combination of "Tastes Great and Less Filling!"

I agree, I tried 305 rears on my stock '08 cup and no dice. Fronts seem too big too.

I skimmed through everyone's comments and didn't notice anyone talking about the Yoko club tires. I'm pretty sure they are cheaper than the Pirellis and Michelins by a decent amount and are not far off the Cup Yoks. They have a bit less peak grip but last longer.

Toby hey you are buying buddy I will take anything. It will help me save for those PCA gold plated tires

It just sucks that the PCA wouldn't want free enterprise to dictate price rather than one tire retailer that cant service most of us anyway.

I always assumed for Michelin that was full stiff on both bars.

Someone once said to me that Pirellis take longer to heat, and you have to work to keep them at temp. My guess is that they have a bit stiffer sidewall than Michelin, and the rest of the setup is helping to compensate for that?

Their new compounds work way better than their olds tires and are comparitive to anything from Pirelli. Too bad for PCA, we have Yokohama's very generous contingency here with POC and NASA....

+1 I have had great luck on the yoks. Tread lasts longer than pirelli until they heat cycle out. Prob 15 HC min out of a set.

Ran practice, qualifying, and a 90 min enduro and turned my fastest lap of the race 3 laps from the end.

At this time there is NO OFFICIAL info on tires and sizes for the classes. The letter PCA was to send last week has been delayed till tomorrow now. Any info at JX2 regarding sizes is NOT official. If you are ordering, I would wait until PCA announcement..

Just in:

JX2 Performance Group National Sponsor

JX2 Performance Group is proud to be a national sponsor of the Porsche Club of America and as such, we are excited to provide Pirelli racing tires as the spec tire for GTC3, GTC4 and GTC5 classes. Read below for details about 2014.

At Track Support

JX2 will attend at least seven (7) club races in 2014 to provide onsite sales and free tire delivery, mounting and balancing. Here are some notes about our onsite support:
• Our tentative support schedule for 2014 is: Sebring, Road Atlanta, COTA, Watkins Glen, Road America, VIR and Daytona.
• JX2 will also provide onsite support at any club race where at least ten (10) total GTC3-5 cars are registered at least 2 weeks prior to any East Coast event (PCA Zones 1-5, 10, 12 & 13)
• JX2 will provide onsite support at any club race where at least ten (10) total GTC3-5 cars are registered at least 4 weeks prior to any West Coast event (PCA Zones 6-9 & 11)
• For any race that JX2 is not present, we will provide standard ground shipping to the track free of charge
• Pirelli will have engineering support available at each race JX2 attends and JX2 Customer Service will have access to Pirelli engineering support between events.

Contingency

For 2014 Contingency has been tripled over the current contingency program! JX2 will provide contingency in the form of Pirelli race slicks this season. These tires can be earned as follows:
• Contingency will be provided by class (GTC3, GTC4, GTC5) for each points race (2 races) each weekend.
• When 4 or more cars race in a given class, JX2 will pay contingency as follows:
• 1st Place - Two (2) Pirelli Porsche racing slicks
• 2nd Place – One (1) Pirelli Porsche racing slick
• When 2 or 3 cars race in a given class, JX2 will pay contingency as follows:
• 1st Place – One (1) Pirelli Porsche racing slick
• Contingency certificates will be distributed by PCA by event and may be redeemed through JX2 after the event.
• JX2 will provide one set (4 tires) of Pirelli Porsche racing slicks to each of season champions in GTC3-5.
• In addition to this contingency, JX2 and Pirelli will give away a trip for two (2) to a race or automotive event to be given to a participant from 2014 GTC3-5. This trip will include all expenses paid (travel, lodging, food and tickets to the event). PCA will determine the method of selecting the winner. JX2 and Pirelli will determine the location. Stay tuned!

So, I know it's fait accompli at this point, but I really must have missed the whole discussion around the change to Pirelli. Does anyone know how the decision was made? Was there something in the rules commentary period? Man, I must have been sound asleep this year!

And BTW, I still think there is a miss on the sizes. The factory book lists a 305/660-18 as the rear tire delivered on the car, NOT a 305/680-18. Will this tire fit a 2001 996 Cup?
