As compounds will be set and even the tires themselves will be marked so you have to get them from the new Distributor.
315....nice

get out the fender cutting torch

Yes, I thought that as well. It would be kind of surprising to me if GTC classes would allow more than one tire size within a class.

PCA ones are required for Club Racing as a spec tire. They have a mark denoting as such on tires. Racing without the proper tires is a DQ. JX2 is only distributor selling the PCA ones apparently.

BTW did anyone get the OFFICIAL PCA email on Thursday this week, 11/1, on the Pirelli tires for this year? It was supposed to have all the info for the classes on sizes and such. I havent seen anything.

Nah. I only ever bought one set/weekend and was on the podium in every race I was in for C3 this year (with a majority of first place finishes), including Watkins Glen . Perhaps C3 didn't see Sebring # of racers, but I wasn't circling by myself...

I'm not arguing that tire management isn't key. When I ran older tires at NJMP, I did slide down to 3rd place until I put my one new set of tires on. Still, my general point is that you don't have to buy two sets to be competitive.

You are correct, I should have maybe said "$5K if you want a chance to win every race" and granted, I suck at conserving tires.

In the end, it all depends on how much $$ (and therefore tires) your competition has.
I am so cheap, I don't even do the Enduros.........

My ultimate hope is that the Pirelli's last longer and are more consistent over 6HCs minimum.

PS: never received any official communication regarding sizes, prices, availability from JX2. Did anyone else? Would be nice to see how much we need to rework the fenders to get those fatties to fit............

FWIW, the Technical Handbook delivered with your 996 Cup lists the following sizes for Pirelli tires:

Front: 245/645-18
Rear: 305/660-18

These sizes are valid for rains as well. I'm guessing 997.1 and 997.2 Cups have differing size specs?

Does that mean that the "mark denoting as such on tires." is worth $39 MORE per tire?????? Really? Why are PCA tires costing more than "regular" DH tires? This is getting kind of ridiculous!

And since National doesn't seem to believe I own a Cup (in spite of racing it at TWS and COTA this year, and asking Walt about brake rotors for a 996 Cup), I have not received any tire emails as yet! Apparently, that hole in my wallet is a phantom one!

While those are the sizes listed in the Porsche book, apparently they are not the tires being used in the series.

You have no choice if you want to run PCA. Tires have to be 305. While it is wider than the Michelin, it is not 35mm. Simple recheck of the alignment with specs for Pirelli and frame height should fix it. Biggest thing may be clearance issue with at fender / bumper point as section width is on new tire is fair wider. True only half the increase in width is on the outside but most cars are tight at this point with the Michelins. Simple to correct though.

The size for the C4 cars is not going to fit under the stock body. The C5 should use the 275/315 but c4 should be the same as C3.
