My brother's Panamera ST Turbo, bought in South Africa, is the amethyst colour. Very pretty and yes it does change colour in different lighting. My original cancelled order for a Panamera ST e-Hybrid, before acquiring the black regular body Panamera, was for amethyst. It was an extra cost option.

He has had it for over a year, so it almost certainly has been replaced. I think his Bentley Bacalar will have arrived by now, plus he had a Ferrari Portofino on order as well.

Of course I'm biased, but I fell in love with the colour when I saw it in the advert and on the sunny day I picked it up, I knew it was the right choice. Just come back from a trip to Oxford and the M40 was really clear, so a most enjoyable trip. The whole journey was effortless and my driving style compared to the E63S has totally changed. Somehow it all seems so refined, fast and very comfortable. I cannot believe I have gone from a sports exhaust 600hp V8 to a fast 'milk float' without a sound.....
Having now driven for 6 weeks, there are a couple of things that I'd like to ask. I regularly charge the car and generally the range I have been getting locally is only 12-14 miles. This morning I left with a full charge and managed 17 miles before it ran out of volts and the engine came on. I changed to eCharge and topped the battery back up, but even at 100% capacity it still only showed 17 miles range, way below the 30 they specify.
Does this need checking out under warranty? The car has a full warranty and is a 2018 with 9000 miles.
The second issue surprised me. I pulled up onto a fast dual carriage way with another car behind, so floored the accelerator and whilst the car rocketed forward, I was surprised to see a noticeable puff of smoke in my rear view mirror. All the gauges etc were normal and no sign of anything this morning on my trip to Oxford. I will try and repeat it, but can this happen when you suddenly floor the throttle?
I'm not unduly worried, just like to know everything that relates to any car I own. As I said, it has a full warranty, but don't particularly want to book it in if this is normal for this model.
Looked back to the pics I took when I first bought the car and got it home. The film had been applied by the first owner (a Porsche Main Dealer) and to be honest I never even noticed when I was looking round the car. The bonnet has been completely covered to protect it against stone chips and it has been well done and clearly works. Any signs of the film are hidden in the panel gaps and it does not change the colour at all. The doors are not covered as far as I'm aware.

I didn't notice it at first, but did see the protective film upon close inspection in front of the rear wheel arch. You don't notice it all when stood back from a normal distance. I have no problem with it as I'd rather have decent bodywork and paintwork than no protection at all. The film covering is only around 300 x 200mm and you can just see where it is applied if you look closely.
I know these aren't in really bright sunshine, but do give a better impression of the colour. On a really dull day such as today, it can look like a slightly coloured black, but soon comes alive in much brighter light. No regrets at all....
Now I think about it, I had my 1071S resprayed in the 1600E Aubergine in 1968. These things come back to haunt you......

I painted my Austin Healey 3000 BN7 race car in Ford Aubergine with a Lamborghini green hard top, in 1969. The sprayer wanted to paint the 15" x 10" Minilite wheels Lamborgreeny as well but I thought that was a step too far
Had a note back from my Porsche dealer which has confused me a little. As far as I'm aware there are three batteries that have been used in the Panamera. Not sure of the size of the first one, but mine is 14.1kWh and I think this was changed in 2017. My car is 2019. The new battery is 17.9kWh and that will be in the 2021 models. Trawled the web and found this from 2017......

....so both talk in terms of a range circa 30 miles, whereas I'm getting 17. OK, in a real world in might be mid 20's, but that's still 50% more than my 17.
Anyone able to confirm what to expect from my 2019 model?
I drive a mix of 50% freeway (speeds around 75 mph) and 40% highway (speeds between 50-60 mph) and 10% surface streets (speeds 25-35 mph) to and from my club 2-3 times a week, total round trip distance around 25 miles. When it is warm (Spring/Summer) I've seen indicated electrical mileage after a full charge of anywhere from 28-34 miles, depending I believe on how I last drove the car. When it its cooler (Fall/Winter) the indicated electrical mileage ranges from 23-28. In the Spring/Summer I actually am able to make the round trip as described above either totally on electric or with maybe a mile or two on ICE, so getting 23-25 miles total on electric. In the Fall/Winter I usually run out of electric somewhere in the 20 mile range. I believe if I drove strictly on surface streets at 35-45 mph in the Spring/Summer I could maybe achieve an actual electrical distance approaching 30 miles. My 2018 has almost 14,000 miles on it and my overall mpg is slightly over 46.

Many thanks for that which goes some way to confirm the figures I have seen. My last 17 miles was probably 4 in town at 20-30, but traffic moving as the roads are quiet. Another 6 at a steady 53 on a speed limited motorway and then the final 7 at 75-80 on a fast dual carriageway. As I said before my driving style is now one of fast and relaxed, rather than the harder driving of a large V8 and I’m enjoying seeing just how far I can go on a full tank.....
I’ve asked the question of Porsche Technical so it will be interesting to see what they come back with.
Speeds over 55 will reduce electric driving distance, especially when it is colder outside. The faster you go the less electric distance. I think the "sweet spot" is somewhere around 40 mph on flat ground (of course downhill is even better).
Strangely my experience was the opposite. I’ve been using electric to go back and forth to our local tip in an effort to get rid of stuff during lockdown. The round trip is around 12 miles and that used 80% of the indicated battery power. The roads are clear compared to normal traffic and flat so a steady 30-40 most of the journey. I did think the low range was down to local driving and it would improve on faster journeys. 17 was an improvement, but was still way short of your figures, so it’s good to know what others are getting before picking it up with Porsche.
