Update here: I got a call from the GM at the dealership today. The build date for my R is August 9th and I also have a VIN.

For the most part, a fully loaded SS comes to only a couple grand less than the Mustang GT350 at MSRP.

Ford (and everyone else) knows it has a winner on it's hands. GM has overloaded & overpriced the Camaro in my opinion. I tried to option out a 'base' Camaro SS with as few options as possible from my local dealer, and it still came to nearly $46K. The stealer/sales staff were total dicks about the ordering process and tried to encourage me to tack on this & that which would have brought it within shouting distance of $52K. For $5K more I could get a GT350 at MSRP, or a Hellcat for about $15K more.

When you are looking for just a cheap weekend toy that doesn't need all the BS options like leather, SATNAV, Onstar-check my-twitter-facebook-mobileapp-look how hip I am now with my tech gadgets...you get the idea.
+350

Let's be honest who the hell cares about these other muscle cars being mass produced? Are any Porsche owners here even turning their heads when another Camaro drives by? I know i'm not. When a GT350 goes by we all stop and listen - because the car is awesome. Let's stay focused on what's great.

AutoTrader Canada had over 50 2016 Shelby GT350s listed last night, most at around MSRP and even discounts. Only two R's both listed at about $149,000 Dollars. Most without Track Pack - ouch.

Go ahead and give them a call and see about those MSRP deals posted on the internet, you will be very dissapointed when they tell you the real price. I've seen multiple people post this exact observation over the last 15 months - always upset when they call.

I would be shocked if someone couldn't buy some 16 GT350s at or below MSRP in Canada. Especially with the better equipped 2017s on the way.

Then you will be very shocked mate - the GT350 Track Pack and GT350R are the same for all years

in 2017 the Track Pack can now option in a bunch of stereo tech like twitter/facebook and whatever other mobile junk apps I don't care for. No thanks. If you think that is "better equipped" - I personally would still order without.

Most of the 2016s listed do not have the Track Pack. Am I wrong that all the 17s come standard with additional cooling and some updates that the non Track Pack 2016s do not have? I may be wrong. You are probably right.

No you're correct that the 2017 model year gives more flexiblity in ordering - again the option to throw in a big stereo on the Track Pack goodies. Basically the Tech Pack is gone (it came with no proper cooling) and they now give you the option of adding the nav/stereo to the Track Pack (which is now standard).

So if you are looking at a 2016 Track Pack or GT350 R it really makes little difference.

One problem to note though - the Track Pack's are almost as rare as the R - I believe a total of 1,300 produced - 1/3 of the Tech Packs.

2017 is slated to be the last year - prices are still sky high.

In Scottsdale, the only American car I stop to look at is something like a GT40. The rest are a dime a dozen around here. Heck, the only Porsche to get a second glance is a GT3RS in crazy colors with the huge surfboard on back. It takes a true exotic here to get noticed - R8, LFA, NSX, Veyron, McLaren, Lambo, etc.

It does seem there are a lot of 350's (perhaps without track pack) listed for sale. But you are right they list them at msrp and do not indicate their markup online. However, between last month and this month it appears a 2017 350 order rolled over at the dealership I'm working with (I know I said I gave up) and no one took it including the dealer. When they do that I believe they run the risk of not getting a chance to order/spec it the next round.

I am not so interested in getting noticed such is why the 350 on the mustang platform is intriguing.

Agreed - until you drive one and catch cell phones filming your exhaust as you're cruising along. Completely unexpected - i've never had a car where people wait next to it while it's parked until you return and ask "Is this your GT350?"

I just picked up an M2. What an awesome little car.
This is exactly what I thought the gt350 was going to feel like. But it didn't.
Quick as hell, actually feels faster than the mustang. Interior is so much better. Feels so much smaller than the 350. No rattles, like none. Backseat, huge trunk, not like I care. I could go on and on...awesome stance

I'm actual going to keep this car for a while, I might like it more than the gt4...

I know para just knocked his cereal bowl over trying to log in to this thread 😅

Funny story. My buddy, who's a dealer, just took on trade a track pack white no stripe car with 800 miles for 4K under msrp. He was going to keep it for the weekend because he's a total car nut.

He brought the car back and got back in his gt4. He was through with it after a few hours.
He said the car felt big, interior felt cheap, and he didnt like the trans. He wasn't blown away by the sound.
I think this is how most car guys, that have access to many other cars, feel about the mustang. Cool, but meh.

You've got some work ahead of you now Para.😁

Calling out the GT350 interior as cheap and then applauding a BMW build quality? Ok you're a unique car buyer indeed

As for access to cars just FYI I cross shopped Ferrari (Modena), Porsche (997 Turbo), and Stingrays - none came close for me.
