GT350

Help me out guys, I'm in agony thinking about the GT350.
I've read all about the car, have never driven one, but no other car has captured my desire like this one since I've owned my 911. My plan was to simply buy the GT350 and keep my beloved 997.1 Carrera S which I have owned for more than 7 blissful years.
Here's the catch, wife won't let me have both. Happy wife = happy life (no, divorcing her is not an option! LOL). I already have an Audi as my DD, so the 911 is just my weekend toy. It was always my dream to own a 911, so it's hard for me to think of selling it.
OTOH, the desire to get a GT350 is overwhelming, I can't sleep at nights thinking about it. My local dealer has a 2016 Track Pack in the color combo I want, which I believe I can get for close to MSRP if not MSRP. I'm seriously thinking of selling my 997.1 to in order to get it.
Money is not the issue, keeping my wife happy is. I know what the Shelby is, I know it's no Porsche, I'm not expecting it to be. I have driven the 2016 EcoBoost Mustang extensively as rental cars on 3 business trips. So I know the GT350 is a big heavy car, know what the interior is about and know the overall quality fit and finish wise is nowhere near Porsche. Still, I want one!
I just don't know if I can live without the Porsche 911. The only way I'll be happy without the Porsche is if the fun to drive and X factor of the GT350 is everything it's made out to be. But I really won't know that until I've owned one for a while. This is just killing me.![banghead](https://rennlist.com/forums/graemlins/banghead.gif)
I can't believe I've read through the 98 pages of this long thread in search of an answer and I'm still not sure.
Should I do it?

I've only had the car a day, so certainly treating it with kid gloves, but loving every minute of this beast already!

Well, my story has a happy ending (at least for now). My wife's not happy, but she finally gave in. Let me get the GT350 and keep my beloved 911 as well. I'll be her indentured servant for the rest of my life, but it was worth it! Thank you to all that replied. The car is a June build MY16 Track Pack. Probably one of the last to be built as a 2016 model and likely one of the last Track Packs in Deep Impact Blue as well, since the color has been discontinued for MY17. ![Cheers](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/beerchug.gif)

Here is my take after getting bleeding eyes reading many of these pages. If you try to compare Ford to Porsche, you are going to be disappointed. If the quality of Ford was anywhere near Porsche, we'd all be pissed off. Don't worry, Ford doesn't build cars like Porsche.
But once you look past the huge difference in build quality, design decisions, materials used, etc. you can appreciate what Ford has created. The GT350 /R are tons of fun, relatively cheap, and provide tons of smiles per mile. I think the new GT350 would be a great track car, as you get a lot of performance for the money.
But it is not a Porsche. Hey, most cars aren't. That doesn't mean the GT350 isn't real good for the money. The key is the price point. I would not spend the kind of money on an R, given the prices I am seeing. Around $65-70k it is a great value. At $100k plus I would probably buy a new Z06.

This group seems to be where most of the GT350 owners are posting - good forum. http://www.mustang6g.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=70
Also if you have FB join the "Ford Shelby GT350 Owner's" group page. Fun to see lots of pictures posted here and also the occasional excellent deal/leads on GT350's available for good prices posted.
The only other car forum besides 6G I check for the GT350 is Rennlist lol.

@Bossing you're making me regret picking Avalanche Grey. That Ruby is gorgeous!

That's the problem, all of them pretty much look good. For an R-spec I flipped many times back 'n forth on colors. Ruby Red, Magnetic, Grabber Blue, AG again... but Lightning Blue always wins it for me so that is what I'd order. It also reminds me of Sapphire Blue which is a color I really like. But like I said they truly look good in any color.

I like almost every color but my top 2 picks are Race Red/black roof/no stripes and the traditional Oxford White with Blue OTT stripes obviously.
Mspeedster when you get a chance grab some snaps of the 911/GT350 Black & Blue!
