Saw it in the flesh at Sebring on Saturday. I liked it better in the photos. Too much of that Cadillac sharp edge look going on IMHO. Might have been the color. That said Corvettes are very fast and capable cars, and a whole lot cheaper than an RS/GT3. I agree that lots of folks, especially the weekend track warriors will give it a look before they lay out half again as much for a GT3/RS. For a track dedicated car you have to give the Vettes a serious look, unless money is no object. At some point driver "feel" will only go so far. I've said it a hundred times before, anyone that dismisses a Vette just doesn't know cars. They are fast and capable and "rental" car seats and steering wheel comments aside, in the right hands will hand your smug Porsche *** a real wake up call. BTW, I think they did pretty well at Sebring this past weekend...hmmmmmmmm.....

Oh, and one more thing, a replacement engine for the Vette was only $10K....Uh... I guess 2 more things. I still wouldn't trade my RS for one...not yet.

Strange but if the Stingray isn't red or perhaps white, it will look like a typical Corvette.

The one you saw, did it have the "race seats" minus the bolsters? Not sure I understand the point of that.

I think they were standard seats, pass through but no bolster. I think their is an option though for "race" seats. The Z06 version will probably get the good stuff.

C7 is looking more and more bland with time .... not a good sign. Classic design look better with time. The problem with the C7 is that it follow the same design cue as 80's Toyota Supra. It's too transformer like and what's up with the Camaro rear end?

It's an attempt to please two demographics. Corvette kept the old guy, no support seats in the C6 (including Z06 and ZR1) because their average buyer is pretty old, and was getting older every year. The vast majority just want to be seen in a car that looks fast rather than actually drive it fast, I'm sure you've seen the old guys in Corvette's driving slower than everyone else on the highway.

Well anyways, per GM, the C7 is built to attract younger customers, but they can't ignore the high average age of their core group of customers, so they put the bolsters to look racy for the young guys and kept the soft cushiony bottom for the old guys because even most young guys still haven't tracked and won't know the difference in bottom bolstering anyways.

And they don't actually expect people to track it much. With the high number of Vette sales, the % of buyers who track them is quite low. Reason to be concerned with regards to the engine. The C6 era was a major blemish in the powerplant department.

I have to admit, the C7 does not look as good as the widebody C6's. But it straight up blows the narrow C6's out of the water looks wise. The narrow body C6, looks super dated, even compared to the widebody variants. The C6 Vert still looks decent.

I will reserve judgement until we see a widebody C7.

Well, the C7 is growing on me, so maybe I like bland. Strip all the chrome and logo's of it, paint everything dark grey or black or some other dark color, lower it, wider wheels and tires and it will look good enough for me.

The rear will probably always be ugly, but you cant have everything for $65K..

Agree, I just noticed the white C6 in the background of the frontal view of the C7. I like the horizontal headlights and the wider body that must be a Z06/Grand Sport wide body version of the C6. Almost think it looks better. I'll bet the new Z06 C7 will look even better with wider body and more aero. The real deal I think will be used C6 Z06's as the Vette crowd jumps ship for the new 7. Gonna be a lot of "used" car for the money I think.

I agree with this^ especially till the new z06 comes out. Just replace valve springs, cam, headers and you have a cheap 550+ rwhp plus 6K in Pfadt sways and coilovers and you have a pretty wicked track car. A seat of courseEasy to find 08-09s for less than 50k with no miles. I might do this, sell the turbo and the ST1 race car and just get a c6z06 for a bit while I try to get a funding deal done for my business. Drive it and use it for track days when I instruct.
