Yep, I find the same. I can see all 5 dials, the edges are slightly obscured UNLESS I turn or tilt my head about 2degrees. When the car is this perfect, you do have to work hard to find any fault at all, and the case of the "obscured" gauges, the reviewers are working overtime.

The center drivers cup holder is an ugly little thing. Terrible. That I do agree on.

I had a 991.2 that had a miserable level of road noise and a sport exhaust that droned at cruising speeds. I got rid of it. I’ve test driven the 992 4S. The car has way more going for it than an extra 20 hp. For me, it has been improved enough in interior noise to put me into a new one. The 991.2 was head and shoulders better than the 991.1 on ride quality alone.

i know there are a lot of hard core “purists” out there who want a a stiff riding, loud as you can make it sports car, but with every generational change, the 911 is becoming a more enjoyable car as a daily driver (in my opinion). It will be interesting to see year over year sales numbers once 6 month has gone by.

Yeah I think that sums it up.

Is this a daily driver sedan with a pile of fun and luxury added, or a weekend toy with a touch of practicality?

I fell in love for the latter. The former seems the destination.

"No excuses, no compromises. The long-awaited mid-engine Corvette isn't perfect, but it's damn sure close enough."
...

So the biggest steps up from the C7 are really the interior quality and the automatic transmission, not the performance (though I'm sure the upper end versions will benefit from the new drivetrain layout). At the cost of the manual option (?), increased size and the weird exterior design.

Love the analog days of old!

much more comforting than appliance like displays

no wonder these older 911’s have rising resale prices

Love how the Smoking Tire guy Matt handicaps the C8 by saying it's the best 'GM' sports car...yeah that's a handicap.

Hard pass. Steering wheel sucks.

Looks like the C8 is still under 100% constraint. And even after the GM strike is over, they have to push 600 C7’s out before converting the line to C8..

Not looking good

I don't post often...but I'll weigh in and take some spears. I've owned ever variant of the 911 since 1982, so its safe to say I enjoy the mark. That being said, I like to buy American when I can. The problem is American car companies haven't made anything worth buying...Well, up until now. I've seen the C8 up close twice, once in Detroit at the Concourse of America and at my local Chevy Dealer. Ironic, but up until that day, I'd never been inside a Chevy dealer. After seeing the new C8 in the flesh, I have to say GM did a really good job.

Objectively the styling, both interior and exterior, is a matter of taste. Some people will like it, others won't. The 911's design is a generational evolution. GM decided to go with a full on revolution to breath some much needed life back into the Corvette brand. I think they've done that, and the firm order deposits prove it. Since GM started taking deposits a few months ago for the C8, nearly 40,000 deposits have been placed. Compare that to Porsche, who struggles to sell +/- 9700 911's each year. Granted a very well equipped C8 is about 40% less than a Comparable 911S (992), so the price point opens the market up to a wider demographic. But $80K isn't chump change, even to most well healed Porsche buyers.

I'm proud to include myself as one of the 40 thousand C8 position holders! Don't get me wrong, I'm not giving up my other Porsches, but I'm happy to add a Corvette C8 to the garage also.

Trade in your 911 for one of these new Corvettes. Then report back in a few months. My guess is none of the bitching Betties in here will do it.

You might have missed my closing remark - Don't get me wrong, I'm not giving up my other Porsche's, but I'm happy to add a Corvette C8 to the garage also.

Can't help but thinking the C7 Stingray for about $50k is just such a nice looking car for a great price. The C8 design seems over done, at least as seen by the photos. That is only this PCar snob's opinion.

Disappointing aesthetics. The C8 has that same cheap wanna be feel that the Feiro had way back when. Looks cheap and knock off ish,, like trying to be something it ain't. The view from the rear . . . Blows me away how poor American designers are.
