Motor Trend - C8 vs 911 comparison test

I mean...I don't know how to explain this, I'm 6'2, I generally have the seat as low as it can possibly be. The pictures in the 992 were taken about two weeks ago, and the picture from my current car was in March, my phone tells me. Point being, I don't remember exactly where I was holding the phone precisely as it relates to eye level, chin level, neck level, slightly lower than neck level, etc. I don't think it was directly at eye level, it must have been a few inches below, I don't know. My point was basically I sat in the car, looked at the steering wheel and gauges, had no problem seeing all of them when seated in the most comfortable position for me (i.e. seat at its lowest position), and took a picture. As you can see from the photo from my current car, also posted above, it's from essentially the same angle. I feel like I'm analyzing the grassy knoll here, but I did not take the photo with the intention of annoying people who are complaining about not being able to see the gauges, I took it cause it was my first chance to spend a minute or two in the interior and I wanted to take some pictures to show friends, family etc.

Interesting article. I had a C6 Corvette and loved it. When it turned into the cartoonish C7, they lost me. This one looks worse. That steering wheel is aweful, the exterior looks like a cheap copy of an exotic, and, most importantly, no manual?? Ever?? Are you kidding me??
Unfortunately, I don’t love the digitalization of the 992 interior either. These menu driven interiors are distracting to the point of dangerous.
991.2 May be the sweet spot. I really don’t need the extra 20 hp. In the endless pursuit of performance and technology, we’re beginning to lose the soul of our cars.

Its funny I read that review and thought easy "win" to the 992. Good effort from GM but no cigar - undeersteers, ordinary braking, lack of feel and heavy too. I was expecting more.
Its actually hard to understand how or why you'd actually build a mid-engine car with that sort of understeer.
For perspective its time round the Motortrend Fig 8 course was the same as the BMW M5 and behind the 718 Spider.

The article doesn't correspond to the final result. How does a car with huge understeer, subpar steering and brakes that drives like a "luxury sports sedan" win a sports car comparo test? How does the car with "more midcorner grip allowing us to carry higher cornering speeds and get on the throttle earlier when exiting a corner, as well as more steering feel and better brake feel at the limit" lose?
And the C8 is just plain ugly -- already not "aging" well. C9 is almost guaranteed to have all those creases and angles softened or outright deleted. Not a fan of the 992 either, but the C8 seems to be worse - 4 inches longer, 3 inches wider and 200+ lbs heavier than an already porky 992. If you want a cruiser disconnected from the road get a 5 series, E class, or A6.

The C8 is undeniably great value - an excellent straight line performer, comfortable cruiser, and respectable track performance with a bargain basement starting price. It’s like a Tesla Model S - an American semi-luxury car that’s quicker in a straight line than anything else in its price bracket. The 992 is a better sports car (in handling, feedback, agility, grip) but it’s substantially more expensive.

I think they made the C8 win the comparison because of price. The 992 S they had was equipped with the base vinyl interior, and it was still more than $30k more expensive than the Corvette. They complained that the Corvette interior materials felt nicer than the base vinyl interior of the Porsche, despite the much higher cost of the Porsche.

And I’m sorry - the dealership experience is an issue. I used to own a Land Cruiser. Very good truck - but getting a $90,000 car serviced at a Toyota dealer that’s primed to churn out Yaris’s and Corollas all day is not a pleasant experience. The quality of the techs, service advisors, facilities is just **** poor compared to Porsche.

This ^ ! These two cars are as different as chalk and cheese. Why these comparisons roll on I have no idea.
Personally, I think Corvette enthusiasts are some of the luckiest bastards on planet Earth. The vast majority get the car of their dreams for roughly half-to-2/3rds the cost of a decently-equipped 992. And as a special bonus, when you walk up to one, you can actually see the thingy in the middle of the car that makes it go fast. There's something to be said for that.

Great perspective on this video. Specifically the commentary at the end. He starts up super excited driving the car but then afterwards after the initial excitement fades, there’s some good thoughts.
