I agree. I got addicted to the Ferrari V8 way back when with a 355. Those things sounded so sweet with a Tubi. Been hooked since then. I only like their V8s though and I too liked the 458 better than the 488. The 488 may do everything a little bit better performance wise, but it simply does not have the soul, feel and sound of the 458 and I love the way a 458 looks.

Those that need a truck will continue to buy them. Where the truck's utility is marginal to the buyer, they will buy something smaller and more fuel efficient. F-150 sales will decrease and they won't have the sedans and wagons that some buyers will be looking for. By the way, I run around all week in my V8 Hemi Jeep, getting about 14 mpg. At $2.50 per gallon, I really don't care about fuel economy. At $5-7, its a different story.

Small turbo motors’ main benefit over big NA pushrod motors is circumventing stupid displacement taxes in markets like China, Brazil, and parts of Europe.
Yes, agreed, Its the perception though. And those are highway numbers you are providing. City numbers are far worse. I can also attest to seeing my 3.0 T chug gas like a V8.

They know it, too.
Not as much to save this time around. You are correct, they will bail them out though.

Default Finally, some unbiased reviews coming in

If you guys aren't familiar with the Throttle House guys. They do an amazing job reviewing cars & always give an unbiased opinion. None of this "paid sponsorship" nonsense you see with other channels.

They definitely bring to light some of the troubling issues ongoing with the new C8. It looks like they still have some work to do over there at GM.

Besides the one MAJOR issue, I'll let you guys watch... Note that when your seats squeak, it's just called "sporting". Nothing to worry about it.

It'd be nice to see them do a 992 C2S at some point. They are in the Toronto area, maybe someone can lend them theirs for a review??

I’ve read these comparisons a lot over the years. The Vette always puts up impressive numbers.

But hot-**** driver to hot-**** driver, I’ve never seen one get around a track faster than a comparable 911.

This latest iteration is definitely onto something with the mid-engine design, but this comparison? I dunno... Seems like a song I’ve heard before.

Even with the straight-line stuff... Pilot Sport 4s VS P-Zeros is not a fair fight. The difference is at least .1 seconds if not .2 in 0-60 and the quarter. And that disparity will grow exponentially once you start big boy racing, and actually begin lapping them. The Michelins are fantastic tires. The Pirellis... Yeah. Not so much.

I won’t even comment on the design/interior/fit-and-finish stuff in the article. If the author believes that, he probably also thinks Coach competes with Hermès.

Wow, that was vicious! I'm going to steal it one day when I need it.
Well played!

Looks like they tried to dial out the mid-engine snap oversteer and went too far. Probably the smart thing to do - GM doesn't want to be the Corvette to be the next Mustang, mowing people over at the cars and coffee. And you just know there will be a line up of 20 c8s all in a row this time next year.

Thanks for sharing these guys. They’re a bit cheeky - fun to watch.

I saw a C8 parked on the road the other day as I was on my way to lunch. Did I stop? No. I will say it looked good, however, not good enough to stop. This article should have been against the more compatible GT4/Spyder.

Even with track alignment. Suffers from terminal understeer. 😳

Reviews haven't been favorable in the track handling area.

Seems like it'll take a couple of years to sort.

Thanks for posting that second video. That channel seems to be very underrated BTW - I like the amount of detail they provide.

Seems like the standard C8, even with the Z51 package, is more of a grand tourer. The continued commentary about superior ride quality makes me wonder whether the spring rates and damping are the primary issue. In my mind, that would mean it's more a Mclaren 570 than a 600LT. It looks Mclaren would provide a better track car from their road-focused product, but then again you're paying astronomically more. Perhaps the standard R8 is a good comparison of a mid-engine, but road focused car. Again, you're paying significantly more for the same type of experience.

I guess I'm just surprised that GM has decided to go this refined and soft. If they are targeting the bulk of their market, it makes me call into question my understanding of the typical Corvette owner.

just wait for z06 with 600hp na flat plane at 9000rpm along with weight loss, suspension, and aero all for same $ options and adm would cost alone on a rs.
