Experiment - GT4 Track Setup Wiki:
#271
Just ordered a set of 265/35 and 305/30 re71r, coming from 245/285 on 19 OZs I think i'll be the first person trying this setup. According to my shop it will move the rake in the direction we want without any other change, which will increase tire life by spreading the load over more tire resulting in decreasing tire temps. They can't quantify how much more tire life I will see, but that is the most tire we can fit on the car. I'm having to try this out b/c I'm currently burning through tires. For ex, after 2 days at COTA on brand new tires they have ~40% tread left. Wish me luck, I'll hopefully (305 rear may not make it in time) try them out at cota over labor day weekend! Any suggestions definitely appreciated!

^ several of us are on 265/285 RE71R now. works great, very little push.
as i said again and again. it may have small rubbing up front, but it fits if you have right camber and a good suspension guy. you NEED 9" front. 8.5 just wont do it correctly.

You warming up to the RE71R tires? Or maybe you've just forgotten what the Hoosiers felt like.

man, I didn't want to hear that about the 265 . I'll let you guys know how it works on 8.5. Should have 305 rears ready for labor day weekend.

Bottom line is that I would not reccomend. Trying to figure out a solution for the rest of the sessions.

tried the 305/265 on OZ wheels and I am not happy with the setup. Car is sliding all over the place bc tires are too big imo. I even tried to up the pressure to 40 and still bad result. My lap times are also suffering bc I can feel the car is unstable under bard breaking and cornering.
Bottom line is that I would not reccomend. Trying to figure out a solution for the rest of the sessions.

I agree. I lowered the pressure as others suggested to about 35 hot and adjusted the sway bar to full soft in front/rear middle and it dialed some of the understeer away. However, still have a bit of understeer left, so it's either going back to 285/245 or back to the drawing board.
